7 Ways to
the Better You
I. Be Strong
-As exemplified by Bible characters
a. Moses
b. Joshua (Deut. 31:23)
The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of
Nun: “Be strong and courageous, for you will bring
the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath,
and I myself will be with you.”

Consider now, for
the Lord has chosen you to
build a temple as a sanctuary.
Be strong and do the work.”
Why Be Strong?

In the same way, let your light shine before
men, that they may see your good deeds and
praise your Father in heaven.
b. Duty to Church
c. Duty to Self
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and
courageous. Do not be
afraid or terrified because of
them, for the Lord your God
goes with you; he will never
leave you nor forsake you.”
II. Be Gentle (Gal. 5:22-23)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Who are the not so gentle people?
-Superior to others

*I Peter 3:3-4
Your beauty should not come from outward
adornment, such as braided hair and the
wearing of gold jewelry and fine
clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner
self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet
spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
III. Be Teachable
Marks of a Teachable Person
-Asks questions (Proverbs 18:15)
The heart of the discerning acquires
knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out.
-Listens to Instructions
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
All Scripture is God-
breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting
and training in righteousness, so
that the man of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
IV. Be Perfect (Matt. 5:43-48)
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your
neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you:
Love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you, that you may be sons of your
Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on
the evil and the good, and sends rain on the
righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those
who love you, what reward will you get? Are not
even the tax collectors doing that? And if you
greet only your brothers, what are you doing
more than others? Do not even pagans do
that? Be perfect, therefore, as your
heavenly Father is perfect.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man
remains in me and I in him, he
will bear much fruit; apart
from me you can do nothing.
