plantations in Kerala, India.Eastern products are
manufactured under controlled conditions to ensure

Manufacturing & Warehousing
Designed to provide consistent quality and flavor
locked products to retain their flavor and aroma.
Some of the important manufacturing machinery
used at ECPL:
Chilly Grinding Mill from Germany(1.5 tons
per hour)
Compared with conventional grinders, these
machines powder raw materials at low temperature
that keeps the original flavor of chilli intact.This
ensures that consistency and natural color and
product fineness is maintained.
Coriander Grinding Mill from Germany(1
ton per hour)
This machine ensures trouble free, ultra fine grinding
at low temperature which help to keep the original
flavor of coriander intact.Additionally modern high
quality Impex/BR Pulverizers with a capacity of 2.5
tons per hour are also used for powdering.
For Cleaning
The finest quality raw materials sourced are cleaned,
using the latest machinery.
 BUHLER & FORSBERG MACHINE:-This includes

 Picking belt &
 Magnetic separators
That ensure raw material free from insect contamination
or any other foreign matter.
Warehousing
In addition to the godown for raw material in Theni
near Maurai(Tamil Nadu), Eastern has its own
warehouse of 40,000 sq.ft. for raw materials.
A refrigerated storage facility of 90,000 sq.ft. to store
3000 Mtfor chilli fromVoltas Refrigerated system is
fully functional at Theni.

Apart from this, storage of approx. 10,000 sq.ft. is
available at Adimali(Kerala) for raw materials
and10,000 sq.ft. for finished goods.Additional storage
facility of 13,000 sq.ft is available at Kalady(Kerala).All
warehouses are equip[ped with insect and rodent
control devices including pheromone traps.
R&D
Eastern has installed a fully automated Microbiology
testing lab to ensure stringent quality in spices and
ready-to-eat products.ECPL is the first company in
India to have such a system.
Tempo reader detects yeasts & moulds within 48
hours.Eastern is the first co. in India in spice sector to
have this fully automatic ic system.
Vitec 2 compact is used to detect bacteria.
Mini Vidas is an automatic instrument which enables
pathogen screening.

Tecra Unique Plus – The Tecra Unique Plus
Salmonella Test takes less than 22 hours as compared
to traditional methods of Salmonella screening which
takes 5-6 days.
HPLC – is used for Toxin detection, pungency of
chillies and Sudan Dye detection.
Gas Chromatograph – this equipment analyses
pesticide residue count.

UV Spectrophotometer – this determines color value
of chillies, curcumin in turmeric, piperin in pepper
NIR Spectrophotometer– for nutrition factor analysis
ELISA plate reader – is used for aflatoxin, ochratoxin
analysis
Luminar Pocket Swab Plus – based on the prescence
of cell component ATO, Luminator Pocket Swab can
estimate microbial count with minitues.
Air Ideal – is used for environmental monitering.

Stringent quality control techniques has got Eastern
several quality certifications and accreditations
including the HACCP & ISO 22000.
Moreover the Spices Board of India has awarded Eastern
for being the ‘Largest Exporter of Spice Powder’s’ in
consumer packs, consecutively for nine years.
ISO 22000 2005 – Eastern is the first co. in India to get
the ISO 22000 certification issued by Food Cert BV
Netherlands & accredited by RVA, the first body in the
world for food safety accreditation.
