Introduction

 LAGU system is Line Access Gateway Unit system.

 LAGU system is installed at RBM and co-located BM sites.
 A BM system is converted to LAGU system replacing BPU and TSU
with NGTJ cards and TSI cards.
 All TUs with PSUs, TCs (LCC), TIC, SPC and TUI cards are retained.
 2-slot chassis consists of NGTJ card and TSI card interfacing with
TUI cards in ATU frame.
 Two types of Base Modules in one MAX system are:
 Co-located BMs which are housed in the same building in which
Central Module is housed.
 Remote Base Modules which are located remotely and are connected
to a Central Module typically E1 links. 9/20/18

 C-DOT LAGU is designed to migrate fixed line TDM based

technology of DSS-MAX to IP based technology.

 It converts basic voice into RTP and Signaling information to SIP

and connects to the IP network.

 LAGU provides gateway functionality through a pair of network

gateway cards working in active-standby mode.

 LAGU systems are installed at all co-located and remote Base

Modules of the MAX exchanges.

 There will be no change in the end user interfaces.

 E1 link shall remain unaffected by the migration exercise.

 Supports maximum 32 E1s from RBM site to co-located BM site.

 BM in concentration supports maximum 2K subscribers at remote BM

site.

 Call processing and feature handling by centralized softswitch.

 Terminal Interface Controller (TIC) controls the four terminal groups
(TG) of 32 channels and multiplex them to form a duplicated
128channel,8 Mbps link towards NGTJ card.

 For signaling information of 128 channels, it communicates with

Signaling Processor (SP) to receive/send the signaling events on
analog terminations.

 In concentration, three other Terminal Units share the 128 channel

link towards the NGTJ card to have 4:1 concentration.

Key requirements during
upgradation
 BPU and TSU frame is replaced with 2-slot chassis,NGTJ cards and TSI
cards

 There will be no change in the existing TU frame having line cards,

PSU, TIC, SPC and TUI.

 TSI cards will be interfaced with TUI in ATU frame just like as was in
case of BPU and TSU.

 Power Supply of -48V to be supplied to NGTJ cards in 2-slot chassis.

LAGU Physical Installation
 For upgrading MAX to LAGU system, BPU & TSU to be replaced
by LAGU chassis as shown in next slides.

 Chassis to be mounted in the BM through nuts & LN key.

 5V, 12V DC are used for driving TSI cards which is fed from ATU.
Both the cables (5V/12v) are fed from different ATU. If one ATU
fails, LAGU will not be affected as it will work in simplex mode.

 Two slot chassis contains two NGTJ and two TSI cards.

LAGU Chassis
 LAGU chassis contains two NGTJ & two TSI cards.

 TSI cards interface with TUI cards in ATUs through TT cables.

 NGTJ can be installed in either simplex or duplex mode.

 NGTJ variants are NGTJ-A00 (EEB integrated) and NGTJ-B00 (EEB not
integrated).

 LAGU Chassis operates at -48V DC.

 5VDC & 12 VDC for LAGU is fed from ATU.
