Pressure Control Equipment

The Line Wiper is used for cleaning grease from the wireline when
pulling cable out of the hole. It uses a line rubber with a split down one
side.

Pressure Control Equipment

The Packoff is operated by compressing the packing element.

Hydraulic pressure is applied to the packoff, operating a piston, which
compresses the packoff rubber around the wireline creating a seal.
When hydraulic pressure is released from the packoff, a spring assists
the piston to return, releasing pressure from the packoff rubber

Pressure Control Equipment

The Control Head is a series of Flowtubes

which have an I.D. slightly larger than the maximum
O.D. of the wireline.
Grease is injected into the lowest Flowtube
coupling at a pressure 1.5 times the wellhead
pressure to maintain a seal around the cable and act
as a barrier against well fluids and gases

Pressure Control Equipment

The Ball Check Valve is placed between the Grease Injection

Head and the Toolcatcher. Its purpose is to prevent well fluids escaping
should the braided line break and be blown out of the hole or accidentally
pulled from the grease head.

Pressure Control Equipment

The Tool catcher is designed to engage the fishing neck of a rope

socket. The Tool catcher is placed on top of the lubricator just below the Ball
Check Valve. The rope socket is released from the Tool catcher by hydraulic
pressure (typically 1200psi). It operates by hydraulic pressure moving a piston
down onto a set of finger colets, which open and release the tool string.

The Lubricator is a length of pipe typically connected with other

sections they stretch between the BOP and the Toolcatcher. The multiple
Lubricator sections must be long enough to house the Toolstring and have
provision for multiple Lubricator bleed off and pressure gauge points.

Pressure Control Equipment

Placed below the BOPs pump in tee is an essential part of a wireline

rig up. By connecting a kill line to the Chicksan/Weco connection, the well can
be killed in an emergency situation. They are also used to facilitate the
pressure testing and bleed down of the lubricator as well as injecting
chemicals into the well for hydrate prevention etc.

Lead Impression Block Operations

• The list below demonstrates the type of Intervention operations that

Weatherford Slickline Romania have all been successfully completed:

» Impression Block Operations

– Impression Blocks are used during fishing operations to check the
shape / size of the top of fish and to determine tool appropriate for
fishing operation. Lead is filled within body of Impression Block and a
pin is fixed thru body of Impression Block and lead to stabilize lead
within body.
– Slickline L.I.B operation give us a more accurate imagine than tubing
L.I.B operation because Slickline allow us to use a lower weight and a
very good weight control
– LIB are available betwen 32mm to 160 mm
