Rashesh Shah, Chairman and CEO of the Edelweiss Group has over 20 years
of experience in financial services in India.

Prior to founding Edelweiss he worked with ICICI, India’s largest private

sector bank followed by Prime Securities where he headed Research and
Investments focusing on the Buy side

grown into a large diversified financial services conglomerate offering
businesses ranging from Investment Banking, Broking Services, Asset
Management and Loans

Rashesh has served on the Boards of various companies and is also a

Member of the Executive Committee of the National Stock Exchange and
the Chairman of the Capital Market Committee of FICCI.

His academic qualifications include an MBA from Indian Institute of

Management, Ahmedabad, and a Diploma in International Trade - IIFT,
New Delhi.

Prior to founding Edelweiss he worked with ICICI, India largest private

sector bank followed by a stint as Principal Investment Officer with the
Spartek Emerging Opportunities Fund, which invested in small and

As Head of Investment Banking, his focus has been on venture capital and

Mr. Deepak Mittal

Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director

Before taking over as the CEO of Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, he played a key role in scaling up the
Capital Markets business for Edelweiss for over a decade.
Was the Chief Financial Officer of Edelweiss Group from July 2007 to 2009. During this period,
Edelweiss Financial Services did a successful IPO and also made a strategic foray into retail financial
He led the Group’s new strategic initiatives in the retail financial services space including the acquisition of
Anagram Stock Broking and the foray into the Life Insurance space through a joint venture with Tokio Marine
of Japan.
Prior to this, he has been involved in various businesses at Edelweiss, including playing a key role in starting
and scaling the Treasury business and starting the Wholesale Credit business.
A Chemical Engineer from IIT-BHU and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad,
Deepak has been the 'point person' for many new Edelweiss initiatives.

Mr. Yash Mohan Prasad

Head of Sales & CMO

Over 24 years of experience in the Life Insurance Industry with stints across companies such as
Kotak Life, Bajaj Allianz and HDFC Life.

Started his career with LIC where he spent 12 years gaining an excellent foundation in Sales as
well as other important functions such as Policy Servicing, Claims, Programming and Underwriting.

He is a Graduate in Psychology from Patna University.

In his spare time, Yash likes to listen to Ghazals and old Hindi Music, sketch and spend time with
his wife and their 2 children

Mr. Nilesh Parmar

Chief Operating Officer

Nilesh Parmar is the overall in-charge for Operations and Technology at Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance.

Nilesh holds an expertise of over 20 years in re-engineering, quality improvement of processes, service
delivery and change management in the banking domain.

Prior to joining Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, he worked with HSBC for 18 years in various roles in
operations and change management. He was Head of Operations from 2005-2009. In his last role at HSBC,
Nilesh was Senior Vice President, Change Delivery - Service Delivery where he was responsible for driving
strategic initiatives for Operations, globally.

Nilesh is a graduate from IIT Mumbai and a post graduate from IIM Ahmedabad.

Nilesh is married to Parizad, who is an entrepreneur and runs her own event management company. They
have 3 children, Syona & twins, Kyrene & Thea.

He loves wild life, trekking & listening to music, specially Hindi songs of a bygone era.

In his previous assignments, he has been the CFO of Sun F&C Asset Management Company and Vice President
and Head (Operations) at AIG Global Asset Management Company (India) Pvt. Ltd.

He is a Chartered Accountant and has experience in the Capital Markets and Mutual Funds industries.

Sarju’s wife is also a Chartered Accountant and they have 2 children. He spends his spare time watching movies
with his family. He is also a good hand at table tennis and cricket.

Ms. Papiya Banerjee

Chief Human Resource Officer

Papiya has fifteen years experience of leadership positions in global organizations and running her own
consulting set up.

She was Director Human Resources, Aviva Global Services before taking the regional responsibility at
Asia-Pacific. She has also worked in various management and leadership positions in ICICI Prudential Life
Insurance Company and HCL Technologies.

Papiya is the founder member of the Avyudaya Centre for Transformation.

Papiya has in depth experience of successfully managing the cultural transitions and systems integrations
that result from corporate mergers and acquisitions. Her deep understanding of business strategy
allows her to design solutions that contribute to the organizational bottom line.

Papiya has done her Masters in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from Tata Institute of Social
Sciences (TISS)

Mr. Yoshiaki Okabe

Chief Risk Officer

Yoshiaki Okabe has over 20 years of rich experience. He has held several leadership positions at Tokio Marine and
has worked on key strategic initiatives including development of entry strategy for Tokio Marine into Indonesia
and other international markets for life insurance before joining Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance..

He is responsible for the overall risk management at Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance and is focused on creating
stronger frameworks and systems for Risk Assessment and Management.

In his spare time, apart from reading, he likes working out in a fitness club. A family man, Yoshiaki Okabe also
likes spending time with his wife and 2 daughters.

Mr. Priyank Govila

Associate Director and Head –
Corporate Planning

Priyank Govila is associated with Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance as Associate Director and Head – Corporate
Planning. His key responsibilities include, providing strategic support to business leaders and guiding management
of change.

Priyank joined Edelweiss in 2008, as AVP & Head of Buy-Side Research. He then moved on to become the Fund
Manager and Principal Officer of Edelweiss’s PMS. In his last role, Priyank was heading the Corporate Planning
function for the Edelweiss Group and managed the Group’s strategic investments book.

Prior to Edelweiss, he worked with Grindstone Research where he was a part of the core team, setup the equity
research function & helped scale-up operations during the ramp-up phase.

He is an MBA from ISB, Hyderabad & a Mechanical Engineer from MNNIT.

Priyank is married to Avni, who is a freelance fashion designer & they have a 4-year old daughter, Deiya.

While not working, Priyank loves reading, photography, Formula-1 and listening to classic rock. In his professional
life, Priyank is passionate about mentoring and scaling start-ups.

Mr. Venkat Krishnan

Chief Technology Officer

Venkat Krishnan, Chief Technology Officer is responsible for technology management, technology infrastructure
and driving new technology initiatives to support key business functions.

Venkat has around 15 years of experience in Information Technology, mainly across the Banking, Finance and
Insurance domains.

His last assignment was as Chief Technology Officer for Yes Bank, where he was responsible for handling the
Technology Infrastructure and Technology Management Portfolio.

Prior to Yes Bank, he has worked with Dhanlaxmi Bank where he was responsible for all Strategic “Change the
Bank” IT initiatives and with HSBC as Head - Enterprise Architecture. Earlier, he has played a leadership role in the
“grounds- up” development of Reliance General Insurance’s overall technology landscape.

Venkat is married to Bharathi, who works with Accenture Consulting; and they have a daughter, Aditi.

In his spare time, he loves spending time with his family & networking with friends. He has been an avid
basketball player-follower throughout his life & is now associated with the sport as a coach.

Associate Director and Head - Partnership

Ashish Sardesai, Associate Director & Head - Partnership Channels heads business acquisition through banks and
partnership based distribution channels.

Ashish has over 18 years of experience in leading Business Verticals & Strategic Acquisition of distribution
partnerships in companies across diverse sectors such as Insurance, FMCG and IT Education.

His previous assignment was with Tata AIA where he was the Vice President & National Head for Broking &
Corporate Agency. His key accomplishments were increasing the distribution network and penetration for life
insurance products which helped it achieve 2 position in this business segment.

Prior to Tata AIA, Ashish has worked with Bajaj Allianz & Max Life in the life insurance sector, Panasonic Energy
India & Aptech Limited in the non insurance space.

Ashish has done his MBA from Pune University, specializing in marketing.

He is married to Sapna, and they have a son, Aakash, & a daughter Akanksha.
