Guidelines/Birth
Registration
 § 130A-92. Duties of the State Registrar.
 (a) The State Registrar shall secure and maintain all vital
records required under this Article and shall do all things necessary
to carry out its provisions. The State Registrar shall:

registration of vital events. The work of this position ultimately
affects the timely compilation of medical and health data and the
accuracy and legality of these data.

 § 130A-101(a) A certificate of birth for each live birth,
regardless of the gestation period, which occurs in this
State shall be filed with the local registrar of the county
in which the birth occurs within 10 days after the birth

completed and filed in accordance with this Article and

of Fact for each live birth that occurs at or enroute to the
hospital.

 The Verification of Fact must be prepared in order for the


mother to review and release record to the local health
department within ten (10) days from birth.

Information  When the birth occurs outside a
hospital/institution, the person who attended
the birth should certify.

 If the mother and/or baby are brought to the


hospital immediately after birth for medical
care, the physician who attended the birth
should be listed as the attendant and may be
listed as the certifier or whomever has been
designated by hospital administrator.
