 M/s Chanakya Dairy Products Ltd. (CDPL) is an Integrated Project in Dairying –a
Mega Project, in financial collaboration with M/s Punjab Agro Industries Corporation
Ltd. , at Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab. The company was envisaged to be committed to
ethical approach in Dairying with an ambition to contribute significantly to the ever
growing White Revolution in Punjab. The plant was installed in the year 2005 and is
in production of various milk products. The handling capacity of the plant is 2,50.000
liter of milk per day. The plant has been setup to manufacture milk products like
PASTEURISED MILK, FERMENTED PRODUCTS, PASTEURISED BUTTER,
PURE DESI GHEE, MILK POWDERS, INDIGENOUS MILK PRODUCTS &ICE
CREAM which could cater to the National and international Markets.
 After de-licencing of Dairy Industry in 1994, Sh. Vinod Duttof Khanna, conceived the
idea of serving the people of the region with high quality Milk & Milk Products. He
started with a humble beginning of collecting milk directly from milk producers
nearby of area of Khanna sub-division of Distt. Ludhiana (Pb.) & processing it in a
mini dairy plant titled “Hygienic Foods”, with an initial capacity of 25000 Ltrs milk
per day.
 In a short span of time, became synonymous with Purity, Freshness & Quality of Milk
and Milk Products. After successful operation of Procuring, Processing and
Distribution of Milk and Milk Products over 10 years, another Milk Plant – M/s
Chanakya Dairy Products Ltd., a Mega Project, in financial collaboration with M/s
Punjab Agro Industries Corp.
Research Design
“Research design is the arrangement of activities for the collection and analysis of the
data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the purpose with economy in
procedure.
 Here the descriptive research was conducted to find out the information about the
factor and to spot light the areas that need the management’s attention.

 METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION


 Source of Data
 Both primary and secondary data were collected for this study.
 Primary Data
 The objective of the study has been accomplished with the help of primary data
collected from questionnaires. The selected samples are met in person and the
required data have been collected with the help of a structured questionnaire.
 Secondary Data
Secondary data was collected from the company records and websites.
SAMPLING DESIGN
Sampling unit
The entire group from which a sample is chosen is known as sampling unit. The
research data was collected from employees of Super Milk Plant, Mandi Gobindgarh.
 Size of Population

 Total population was 1000 workers. Out of the total population the researcher collected 10
percent i.e. 100 samples

 Sampling Technique
 The technique used for the research is Probability Sampling because the population is finite. The
Sampling technique selected for the study is Simple random sampling technique. It is one where
respondents are selected from the total population.

Simple random sample is a group of subjects (a sample) chosen from a larger group (a
population). Each subject from the population is chosen randomly and entirely by chance such that
each subject has the same probability of being chosen at any stage during the sampling process. This
process and technique is known as Simple Random Sampling.

 STATISTICAL TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES


 The collected data have been analyzed with the help of tools like simple percentage method.
 Simple Percentage Method
 Simple percentage analysis refers to a ratio. With the help of absolute figures it will be difficult
to interpret any meaning from the collected data, but when percentages are found out then it
becomes easy to find the relative difference between two or more attributes.
 To know about the Employee welfare measures
being implemented in Super Milk Plant.
 To know about the awareness of statutory
welfare measures in company.
 To know about the workers expectations on
welfare measures.
 To know about the satisfaction level of workers
on welfare measures.

 The following are the major findings from the Survey and Analysis on
Employee welfare, health and safety measures at Super Milk Plant.
 45% of the workers are very satisfactory on the canteen facilities, 20% of
the workers are satisfactory on canteen facilities, 13% are dissatisfactory,
12% are very dissatisfactory and 10% are neutral on the canteen facilities.
 65% of workers very satisfactory on drinking facilities, 10% of worker
dissatisfactory and very dissatisfactory, 8% of satisfactory and 7% of
workers neutral on drinking water facilities.
 52% of workers are very satisfactory, 26% are satisfactory, 10% are
neutral, 8% are dissatisfactory and 4% are very dissatisfactory on clean,
ventilation and lighting provided by the company. Whatever may be the
induction programme the ultimate result should lead to increase the
productivity levels of the workers without detrimental to their health and
safety.
 37% of the employees are expressing their opinions as very satisfactory,
23% are satisfactory, 15% are dissatisfactory and very dissatisfactory and
10% are neutral. “Night Shift Allowance is being paid to all the workmen
to manager cadre of employee’s.”
 Welfare facilities like canteen and rest shelter has to
be provided to the employees as a whole.
 Only half of the respondents said that a shift
allowance provided by the company is good, so that
satisfy more respondents certain change should be
taken in shift allowances.
 Only 60% of the respondents are satisfied with
cleaning and ventilation, so for more respondents
satisfaction with cleaning and ventilation should be
more effective.
 The working condition in the company is
implemented in such a way that it should satisfied
more number of respondents.
 Welfare measures regarding recreational facilities
should be properly implemented by company.
