Meaning of communication
■ Latin origin.
■ Act of conveying message.
■ Involves (atleast) a sender, message and a receiver.
Process of communication
Types of communication
Based on the communication channels, there are two types of
communication:

1. Verbal Communication
2. Non-verbal communication
Verbal Communication
■ Uses words to transfer information.
■ It may be oral or written.
■ Examples :Face to face discussion, specches, seminars, etc.
Non-verbal communication

■ Transmission of information through visual, auditory, tactile and


kinesthetic channels.
■ Examples include body language, posture, facial expressions,
tone of voice, etc.
Barriers to communication
■ Physical barriers
■ Cultural barriers
■ Psychological barriers
■ Physiological barriers
■ Attitudinal barriers
Conclusion
■ Communication is an important aspect of every
organization. It is very much essential for smooth running of
an organization for clearly defining goals, objectives,
policies and every other aspect of the organization.
