from Senior High School of Grade 12 Learners Enrolled in
Private Schools/Colleges & Technical-Vocational Institutions for
SY 2017-2018)

Advancement Classes During Summer for the K-12
Basic Education Program)

necessary adjustment in accordance with
their situation, to be approved by the Div.
Office.
 Summer class starts every 2nd Monday of
April and shall end after the completion of
the 6th week inclusive of Saturdays.
Definition of terms
1. Summer Class-any structured instructional or formal
learning class during summer-break with the
approval of the DO.
2. Remedial- any form of organized instructional
intervention given to a learner during summer class in
a form of tutorial, coaching and the likes.
3. Advancement- any subject area offered during
summer to a SHS learner with work immersion in the
succeeding semester. The advanced subjects are
those that are left together with the work immersion.
Guiding Principles
1. Offered during summer to address learners’ gaps or
failure, deficiencies due to change of tracks/specialization
or transfer from one school to another, or to allow for an
advance subject;
2. Kto12 curriculum’s competencies shall be followed;
3. Readiness of the school shall be considered:
 instructional rooms/laboratories
 subject area specialist
 Other Instructional Resources
4.The principle of cost-effectiveness shall always prevail;
and
5. The learning profile of enrolees shall be the basis
Eligible Learners for Summer Classes
1. Learners from public schools who would like to
transfer in private schools;
2. Learners from public school may enrol in
private school’s summer class;
3. Grades 4 to 10 learners who failed in NOT more
that two (2) learning areas;
4. SHS learner who failed in any learning area/s at
the end of the semester or those who failed a
pre requisite subject; and
5. Learners from grades 4-12 with Special
Educational Needs (LSENs).
Schedule of Summer classes

For Grades 11-12, an 80-hour per
subject for Core Curriculum Subjects,
Applied Track Subjects, and
Specialized Subjects are allotted 2
hrs/subject for 6 week period.
Documentary Requirements for Summer Class
1. Letter of request/intent addressed to the SDS which
include the ff:
 tentative list of students per subject (minimum of 10
enrolees per class)
 No classes shall be allowed to open with less than
ten (10) enrolees. However, for any of the major subjects
under SHS, 8 enrolees is allowed
 List of teachers (name, degree/s, major subject, subject
to be taught, number of years in teaching the subject)
 No teacher should be assigned to teach subject which
is neither his/her major nor minor
 Written consent of parents/guardians
 List of least mastered competencies of the subject area
where he/she failed.
Documentary Requirements for Tuition Fee
Increase

1. A certification under oath signed by the School head


that appropriate consultations for the forthcoming SY
have been conducted by the school administration with
duly organized parents and teachers associations, or their
equivalents in the absence of such organizations;

2. Information on the nature of consultations, including


any formal objections raised during the consultation. Such
formal objections if made, including counter-proposals
where offered, shall form part of the information required
in the certification of consultation; and

3. A certification under oath signed by the school head that
seventy percent (70%) of the amount of tuition fees increase in
SY will go to the payment salaries, wages, allowances and
other benefits of teaching and non-teaching personnel except
administrators who are principal stockholders of the school,
including such increases as may have been provided for in
collective bargaining agreements existing or in force at the
time when R.A. 6728 was approved and made effective;
and at least twenty (30%) will go to the improvement or
modernization of buildings, equipment, libraries, laboratories
and similar facilities and to the payment of other costs of
operations.

with the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
