1.Change percent to fraction:

= 50 = 1

Change fraction to percent:

2.Change decimal to percent:

Multiply by 100, then affix the % sign to the

resulting product. Or

To get a percent a number,

remember that

OF means multiply (x)

IS means is equal to (=)

Example 1:

25% of 80 is what number?

.25 x 80 = n

20 = n

What is 40 % of 120 ?

n = .40 x 120

n = 48

Example 3:

24 is 15 % of what number ?

24 = .15 x n

24 ÷ .15 = n

Example 4:

40% of what number is 28?

.40 x n = 28

n = 28 ÷ .40

n = 70

Example 5:

18 is what percent of 150?

18 = P x 150

18 ÷ 150 = P

The percent

.12 = P of 150

P = 12% #

Example 6:

What percent of150 is 20?

p x 150 = 20

p = 20 ÷ 150

p = .13333

p = 13.33% #

Example problem:

General Santos Hospital has a 35

hours training course for volunteer

workers. Students on the course spend

21 hours on patient care. What percent

of the course is spent on patient care?

p x 35 =21

p = 21 ÷ 35

p = .60 or 60% #
