IN 1945. TATA MOTORS IS A PART OF THE
TATA GROUP FOUNDED JAMSETJITATA IN
1868. TATA MOTORS HEADQUATERS IS IN
MUMBAI .RATAN TATA IS THE PRESENT
CHAIRMEN OF TATA GROUP .
• IN TATA MOTORS I HAVE LEARNT ABOUT
MANY CAR PARTS BUT MOSTLY ENGINE
AND GEAR SYSTEM .

• Jaipur tata centre spreads in the area of about 375
acres in SITABAARI. Here cars are repaired and
many parts of cars like
GEARBOX,ENGINE,WHEELS etc. are assembled.

 1) GEAR

WHAT IS GEAR ?

 Gear are used to

transmitting power from one
shaft of machine to another
.Similarly in car it transmit
power from crank shaft to the
drive shaft running under
the car that have ultimate
power wheels.
 Type of gear

SPUR GEAR HLICAL GEAR BEVAL GEAR

WARM GEAR RACK AND PINION

 SPUR GEAR
• Most common type of
gear. This gear having
straight teeth parallel to
axis of shaft. They have
the characteristic of
having no load in axial
direction.
• They are used in washing
machine , gear box, metal
cutting machine etc.
HELICAL GEAR
• The teeth of helical gear is
cut at an helix angle.
Compared to Spur gears,
they have the large contact
ratio . A pair of helical gear
have same helix angle but
helix hand is opposite.
• Helical gears are mostly
used in transmission in
gearbox.
BEVEL GEAR
• Bevel gear is an system in
which two teeth are
perpendicular to each other.
• Bevel gear is mostly used
gear today it used when we
want to reduced gear
reduction
• Bevel gear drives are used in
differential drives
WORM GEAR
• Worm gear arrangement
is very typically to
arrange. Worm gear is
used to make high speed.
This is also called worm
screw gear system .worm
gear is used when large
gear reduction
• Worm drives are used in
presses ,rolling mills etc.

RACK IS LIKE A SPUR GEAR
OF INFINITE PITCH DIA .RACK

CONVERT ROTATIONAL
MOTION INTO
TRANSLATORY AND VICE –

2) ENGINE
• An engine or motor is a
machine which coverts one
form of energy into
mechanical energy . It is
where ,air ,pressure, and
electricity come together to
create the small explosion that
move the car piston up and
down the creating the power to
move the vehicle .

• This is spark ignition
engine. In this engine we
use petrol.
• This work on Otto cycle
• In it we used used air
and fuel mixture
• In spark ignition we used
spark plug to ignited the
fuel
CI ENGINE
• This is compressed
ignition engine
• Here ignition
happened by
compressed air
• In this we use diesel
• This is work on diesel
cycle

• IN TWO STROKE ENGINE ONE WORKING CYCLE IS
COMPLETED IN ONE ROTATION OF CRANKSHAFT
I.E. SUCTION AND COMPRESSION STROKE IS
COMPLETED IN ONE HALF CYCLE WHILE POWER
AND EXHAUST STROKE IS COMPLETED IN ANOTER
HALF CYCLE.
• TWO STROKE ENGINES ARE USED IN
MOTORCYCLES.

• IN FOUR STROKE ONE WORKING CYCLE IS
COMPLETED IN TWO ROTATION OF CRANKSHAFT
I.E. EACH STROKE COPMLETE IN EACH HALF CYCLE

* FOUR STROKE IS GENERALLY USED IN CARS.
