Introduction/Purpose

 This meeting is intended to briefly discuss Quality


Requirements for Concrete Protective Coating
application and repair.

 This meeting is intended to fulfill the Schedule Q


requirement to conduct a kick-off meeting prior to start
of every new activity.
ITP and Checklists

 ITP and Checklists are already approved.


 Coating Application and Repair procedure have been
submitted, and Saudi Aramco response is awaited.
Materials – Storage, Handling and Preservation

 As per approved RTA, the following materials are


approved:
• Nitoproof 120 (Bituminous Protective compounds)
• Polypoxy CT (Bitumen Modified Epoxy Coating)
• Polycoat (Bitumen Emulsion Paint)
 All materials shall be stored in controlled environment
per the manufacturer recommendations.
 Any container showing leakage should be discarded.
 Materials stored beyond shelf life shall be discarded.
 Mixed multi-component coatings shall be discarded if
pot life has elapsed.
Coating Personnel

 All coating personnel shall be qualified and certified to


perform the respective job.
 All coating personnel shall be issued as certification
card as identification of qualification.
 All coating personnel shall carry the certification card
with them when on site.
 Certification card validity shall be 03 years from the
date of issue.
Surface Preparation

 Concrete surface shall have been repaired with


approved repair material.
 No protective coating application shall proceed prior to
completing curing of concrete.
 All surface contaminants shall be removed using
appropriate tools/methods.
 All protrusion and sharp edges shall be removed
 Surface to receive coating shall free of loose, weak and
unsound materials.
 Surface to receive coating shall be roughened.
 Moisture test shall be conducted prior to application of
coating.
Coating Application

 Coating shall be applied by approved coating


applicators.
 Coating shall be applied using manufacturer
recommended method.
 Coating application shall not proceed when ambient
temperature is below 5°C.
 Coating shall not be applied when relative humidity
exceeds 85%.
 Coating shall not be applied in adverse weather
conditions.
 Coating shall not applied when rain is expected within
24 hours.
Coating Application

 Number of coats and DFT shall be per manufacturer


recommendations, but DFT shall not exceed 1000
microns.
 Next coat shall not proceed prior to initil curing of the
earlier coat.
 The finished coating shall be uniform in color and
texture, and free from runs, drops, ridges, waves, laps
and other defects.
 Special care is needed when brush is used for coating
application.
