DOWNLINK CODE POWER BASED COMPRESSED MODE

Description
• Downlink Code Power Based Compressed Mode (FAJ 121 4036) is an optional
feature introduced in W15B that enables setting the thresholds to start
Compressed Mode based on the measurement quantity named Downlink (DL)
transmitted code power
• This feature introduces a fourth measurement quantity, on top of the legacy ones
(Ec/No, RSCP and Ue TX power), to trigger compressed mode
• In a situation when Ec/No varies a lot and forces the operator to set handover
thresholds to start CM very high in order not to drop the call, the operator can
with this feature instead by setting the thresholds based on DL code power

Reducing unnecessary triggering of Compressed Mode gives:
• More WCDMA coverage
• Higher throughput
• Reduced system load
• Less IRAT Handovers

• Comparison done between 3 Days (20th, 21st & 22nd Jan as Pre & 3rd, 4th & 5th Feb as Post)

• 64% increase observed in speech Traffic

• 75% reduction in IRAT HO attempts
• Speech & HS DCR are marginally improved
• CSSR Speech & HS is maintained
• IRAT HO SR degraded due to drastic reduction in HO attempts.
• Throughput is not impacted due to this feature. It is fluctuating due to fluctuations in payload.
• HW blocking was observed in UT1028 after feature roll out. Parameters has been reverted for this site & this site has been excluded from all the pre-post
calculation of KPIs
CSSR Speech & HS

• Speech cssr and HS cssr is maintained.

CDR SPEECH / HS

• DCR speech is partially improved while DCR HS is stable.

Speech Traffic (Erlang)

• Speech traffic increased by approx. 64%
