Where We Started

Imagine you’re a new member of BC3

How do I....
Track progress?

Communicate progress? Share best practices?

Implement the Principles?

Find other members like me?

The Goal

Create a tool that adds value to member companies

Track climate data and progress easily

Share information and create community
Develop peer support, case studies, and best practices
Provide a presentation and communication template
Help BC3 identify needed programming and increase

Enable action that supports BC3 principles
Primary Purpose – Enable Action To Support BC3
Principles

We acknowledge our responsibility to reduce our impact on climate change and

adopt practices within our organization's operations to reduce our greenhouse gas
Internal Implementation emissions and contribute to a climate-friendly San Francisco Bay Area economy.

We will be active leaders in the San Francisco Bay
Area community to help combat climate change.

Principle 3 ●
We will advocate and dialogue with policymakers to develop the best business
solution through, for example, supporting the Bay Area Council's advocacy
Advocacy and Dialogue platform on climate change.

Principle 4 Through the Business Council on Climate Change, we will collaborate and share

best practices with other participating San Francisco Bay Area companies to help
Collective Action solve the problem of climate change.

Principle 5 ●
We will each report regularly on our activities and
Transparency and Disclosure progress towards reducing our climate footprint.

To meet 2012 Goal we need to reduce
another 1.07 MMT’s, or 14%

That’s the same as:

- removing 3x our municipal fleet from
the roads,
- eliminating 90% of residential energy
usage, or….
- making Renewables 20% of our local
energy mix.
And what about…

• Rising sea levels

• Habitat preservation and
restoration
• Our fossil fuel intensive economy
• Consumption (all that stuff we buy)
• All those jobs (green ones)
• Neighborhoods, businesses and
local politics?
The path forward:
SFE would like to invite BC3 members to be
part of the SFCAP Advisory Board
