Description and Use
of Interactive Book
 This book will be used with my preschool students (3-5 year olds) students as we
learn about our Tree Unit in the Fall. As we start to learn about the Tree Unit, we
will go through this together. This interactive book would be available in our
computer center so they can learn about the cycle of the tree center time
throughout this unit.
 This book is designed to help my student’s understand how trees grow and where
they come from. They will be able to use this book to recall the different stages of
a trees’ cycle. When we go a nature walk, they will be able to determine what
stage a tree is at as we pass it.
 The interaction part of this book will help them better understand the cycle. The
pictures will allow them to see the different stages and connect them to the what
stage it is. The questions at the end will help me know if they know the cycle of
trees.
There are FIVE (5) stages of a tree…
1. Seed 2. Sprout 3. Sapling

4. Small 5. Mature
Tree Tree
Seed It is the first (1) stage in
the tree’s life cycle.

Some seeds come from

the tree's fruit, while
others are inside nuts.

Some seeds are big,

while others are small.
Sprout It is the second (2) stage in
the tree’s life cycle.

The sprout will find the light

and pop out of the seed.

You will see the steam and a

few leaves!
Sapling
It is the third (3) stage in
the tree’s life cycle.

They are bigger than sprouts

but are not quite big enough
to be considered mature
trees.
Small
Tree It is the fourth (4) stage in
the tree’s life cycle.

These are like mini trees.

They are normally short and

small with very slim trunks.
They can grow quickly.
Mature It is the fifth (5) stage in the
tree’s life cycle, the adult
Tree stage!

It can grow seeds, fruit,

and/or nuts.

There are many branches,

the trunk is wide, and the
leaves are bright
and flourishing.
