What is a processor ?
The term processor usually refers to the
CPU or central processing unit of a computer.
This is usually a 1" square piece of silicon with
millions of transistors lithographically etched on
it. These transistors perform all the calculati...
Introduction of Intel processor

Intel’s 2010 processor line-up introduces the first mobile
versions of the mid-range Core i5 and the entry-level Core
i3 alongside a half-dozen Core i7 chips. These all share a
common blueprint known as Westmere, which pairs a dual-
core 32nm processor with a single-core 45nm graphics
engine baked on the same chip.
The processor (CPU, for Central Processing Unit) is the
computer's brain. It allows the processing of numeric data,
meaning information entered in binary form, and the
execution of instructions stored in memory.

The first microprocessor (Intel 4004) was invented in
1971. It was a 4-bit calculation device with a speed of 108
kHz. Since then, microprocessor power has grown
exponentially. So what exactly are these little pieces of
silicone that run our computers?

SMART SPEED
We're all multitaskers. We edit photos, send
email, watch video, sync our iPods*—and we want
to do it all at once. Now we can. Intel® Hyper-
threading Technology lets your processor do more
simultaneously.
SMART INVESTMENT
Intel® Core™ processors adapt to your needs
now and down the road. So, you won't just keep
up, you'll get ahead.
History of processor
When it first started in the mid-sixties, Intel produced
electronic memory components.
