The term “entrepreneur” is derived from the French word
“entrprendre” which means “to undertake” or “go between”. An entrepreneur is a person who undertakes the risk of establishing and running of a new enterprise .
There are different types of entrepreneurs on the modes or
objectives or ventures . These classifications are not mutually exclusive TYPES OF ENTREPRENEURS Business Entrepreneur: They are those entrepreneur who develop an idea for a new product or service and establish a enterprise to materialize their idea into reality. Trading Entrepreneur: they are the entrepreneur who undertake trading activities whether domestic or overseas. Corporate Entrepreneur: they are those entrepreneur who through their innovative ideas and skills able to organize, manage, and control a corporate undertaking very efficiently and effectively. Industrial Entrepreneur: They essentially manufacture products and offer services which have an effective demand in the marketing. Agricultural Entrepreneur: they are those who undertake agriculture as well as allied activities in the field of agriculture. Use of Technology: 1) Technical Entrepreneur: They are those entrepreneurs who have the capability of developing new and improved quality of goods and services by their knowledge, skills and specifications. 2) Non-Technical Entrepreneur: They are those entrepreneurs who have the capability of developing alternative marketing skills and distributing strategies to promote their business. Professional Entrepreneurs: These entrepreneur establish business enterprise s with a purpose to sell them once they are established. MOTIVATION: 1) Spontaneous Entrepreneurs: They are motivated by their desire for self-fulfilment and to achive or prove their excellence in job performance. 2) Induced Entrepreneurs: They are the entrepreneurs who take the task due to the policy measures of the government that provides assistance, incentives concessions and necessary facilities. 3) Motivated Entrepreneurs: They are motivated by their desire to make use of technical and professional skills in performing the job that they have taken up. ENTREPRENEURS First-Generation Entrepreneur: These entrepreneurs start their business by their own innovative skills and expertise.
Second-Generation Entrepreneur: They do not start their
start their enterprise by their own rather they join their family business which have been started by their father.
Third-Generation Entrepreneur: They are those types of
entrepreneur wherein their grandparents have been original entrepreneur , which have been passed into their father and then to themselves
