rings in every ear
Now imagine a situation like
this…
WHERE

LEAVE THEIR CLINICS

INTRODUCTION
 THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY IS TO
DETERMINE THE FACTORS RESPONSIBLE
FOR CLINICIANS ABANDONING THEIR
CLINICS AND TAKING UP MANAGEMENT
COURSES.
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
 MORE AND MORE DOCTORS ARE
COMPLETELY LEAVING THEIR CLINICAL
PRACTICE TO JOIN MANAGEMENT
COURSES AND THE NUMBER IS
INCREASING EVERY YEAR. On the other
hand the statistics show that India is
facing serious shortage of doctors.

PROBLEM DEFINITION
 Increasing number of young doctors are
currently leaving their clinical practice to
join management, and are hence in a
short supply in India .As a result number
of people devoid of health care is also
increasing day by day.
PROBLEM DEFINITION
 Salaries of doctors in India have been
steadily shrinking, while those of
managers are heading the opposite
direction. Doctors earnings are not
keeping up with their expenses.
PROBLEM DEFINITION
• Government has appointed many allopathic
doctors on Contractual basis ,and has also given
chance to doctors practicing Indian systems of
medicine (under AYUSH).
• Also 6th pay commission promises good salary to
doctors.
• Yet this does not seem to motivate young
doctors.
PROBLEM JUSTIFICATION
 India is short of 6 lakh doctors. This
works out to be approximately 1 doctor for
about 1634 people.
 The multi billion dollar NRHM was
launched 3 years ago, but India’s 6.5 lakh
villages continue to face a shortage of
doctors

PROBLEM JUSTIFICATION
 As a result quacks are rushing to fill in the
vacuum.
 More scary is that, fake doctors are more in
number than genuine ones.
 The figures for quacks for just Delhi is estimated
to be 40,000.
 They not just misdiagnose ,but often prescribe
harmful steroids, and also sell spurious and
expired medicines.
Contd….
 In rural areas most of the time these fake
doctors are responsible for increasing the
severity of the people’s disease and
sometimes even death.
Contd….
 The amount of resources (time ,money,
effort) that go into completing a medical
or dental degree is huge , still doctors
leave their profession.
GOALS
 OUR GOAL IS TO DETRMINE THE CAUSES
WHICH ARE FORCING THE DOCTORS TO
LEAVE THEIR CLINICAL PRACTISE.

TAKING NECESSARY ACTION.

have work experience & now pursuing
management course.
 Description of the doctors; tabulated as
age, educational profile, family status,
years since completing the medical.
Contd…….
 The interview will be conducted in organization
as mentioned in our proposal & the discussions
will be recorded. Then report writing will be
done on the basis of the recorded evidence.
 Further the data will be analysed by proficient
analysts.
 Coding will be done after finalization of the
schedule by pre testing.
 The data operator will then enter the data in the
computer with the requisite software.
PLANS FOR INTERPRETATION
 GENERALIZABILITY
The result can be generalized as an evidence to see the issue as it is
conducted in top four institutions of the country.
 LIMITATION

Our sample size is small. It includes many fresher doctors. The idea
may vary in the view of top , well established doctors.
 POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTION

The research provides us with the reasons as to why doctors are

leaving their profession & searching for other jobs.
It necessitates some action to be taken by the govt. by taking cue of
the situation.
