Electricity (Registration) Regulations
Due to the enactment of Electricity (Registration) Regulations under the Electricity Ordinance 1990, all electrical workers and contractors engaged in electrical work on fixed electrical installations must be registered with the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) The purpose is to ensure electrical safety

Electricity (Registration) Regulations
A Registered Electrical Contractor must be either: if the applicant is an individual, he must be a registered electrical worker; or if the applicant is a partnership, one of the partners must be a registered electrical worker

• Low voltage fixed electrical installation not exceeding 2500A, single or three-phase

The Electricity (Wiring) Regulations
The regulations are designed to protect: persons property and Livestock from electric shock, fire, burns, and injury from mechanical movement of electrically actuated equipment

The Electricity (Wiring) Regulations
The Code of Practice for the Electricity (Wiring) Regulations is prepared and issued by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Provides technical guidelines to help the electrical trade comply with the statutory requirements in the Electricity (Wiring) Regulations

The Electricity (Wiring) Regulations
Some fixed installations are exempted, e.g. MTRC, KCRC, Government Buildings, Broadcasting Buildings etc

Supply Rules of Power Companies
 The Supply Rules are issued by the two
electricity supply companies of Hong Kong, i.e. CLP and HEC, as a contractual document between the electricity supply company and the consumer

 It is a legal binding document

 The British Standard Institution (BSI), a Royal
Charter Organization, is the recognized body in UK for the preparation and promulgation of national standards.
