What is an aligner?
An aligner is a clear plastic tray almost similar to the tray used for teeth whitening
but aligner moves teeth.
Aligners are removable, custom made appliances which SHOULD fit snugly on
patient’s teeth.

Aligner basically works on resilient property of the plastic material by which it is
made.

Can one aligner straighten teeth ???

NO….
……but a series of aligners can.
Each aligner moves teeth a little bit at a time and eventually our patient can have straight
teeth.
Hence a series of aligners are required to correct the malocclusion.
Each aligner has got a small amount of movement for selected teeth.
When aligner is inserted in patient’s mouth, plastic applies pressure on teeth; this pressure
will gradually shift and guide these teeth into the alignment dictated by the shape of the
aligner. Then next aligner is inserted and so on…..
