-to reduce the multiplicity of trade unions. the existing provision of enabling ant 7 workmen to form a trade union has been changed to minimum qualifying membership of 10% of workmen employed in the industry or an establishment where the trade union is proposed to function.OBJECTS OH THE ACT ‡ Object of providing for the registration of trade unions and verification of the membership of trade unions registered so that they may acquire legal and corporate status. ‡ It makes provisions for. -fixing the rights and liabilities of registered trade unions. whichever is less for the registration of the trade unions. or 100 workmen . . ‡ Amendments to the act in 1982 is to achieve the following objectives. -laying down the obligations of a registered trade union. -conditions governing the registration of trade unions.

Under the provisions of the act. or by empowering the appropriate government and the parties to the dispute to refer it to the registrar of Trade Union for adjudication. . a provision has been made for a period of 60 days for the registration of T.To empower the registrar of trade union to verify the membership of registered trade unions and connected matters and report the matter to state and central governments.-At present no machinery for the resolution of t. now 75% of the office-bearers in the executive of a registered trade union . disputes arising from interunion rivalries. iii) the maintenance of any person who is a member of any legislative body constituted under the Constitution or for any local body. in furtherance of any of the objects on which the general funds of the trade union may be spent. during or after the election in connection with his candidature or election. any other object notified by the appropriate government in the Official Gazette. v) the holding of political meetings of any kind. B) MAINTNANCE OF THE POLITICAL FUND: i)the payment of any expenses incurred. ii)the holding of any meeting or the distribution of any literature or documents in support of any such candidate or prospective candidate. by a candidate for election or prospective candidate for election of any legislative body constituted under the Constitution of or any local authority before. x) Subject to any conditions contained in the notifications. or. . either directly or indirectly. iv) the registration of electors or the selection a candidate for any legislative body under the constitution or for any local body. or the distribution of political documents of any kind.ix)The payment.
