ABSTRACT
• Covid-19 is a rapidly spreading viral disease that infects not only humans, but
animals are also infected because of this disease.
• The daily life of human beings, their health, and the economy of a country are
affected due to this deadly viral disease.
• Covid-19 is a common spreading disease, and till now, not a single country can
prepare a vaccine for COVID-19.
• A clinical study of COVID-19 infected patients has shown that these types of
patients are mostly infected from a lung infection after coming in contact with this
disease.
• Chest x-ray (i.e., radiography) and chest CT are a more effective imaging technique
for diagnosing lung related problems.
ABSTRACT(Continued)
• Still, a substantial chest x-ray is a lower cost process in comparison to chest CT.
• Deep learning is the most successful technique of machine learning, which
provides useful analysis to study a large amount of chest x-ray images that can
critically impact on screening of Covid-19.
• In this work, we have taken the posteroanterior (PA) view of chest x-ray scans for
covid-19 affected patients as well as healthy patients.
• After cleaning up the images and applying data augmentation, we have used deep
learning-based ResNeXt models and compared their performance.
INTRODUCTION
• Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an extremely contagious disease and it has been
declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).
• The pandemic declaration also stressed the deep concerns of the alarming rate of spread
and severity of COVID-19.
• While most of the people infected with the COVID-19 experienced mild to moderate
respiratory illness, some developed a deadly pneumonia.
• The other diagnosis methods of the COVID-19 include clinical symptoms analysis,
epidemiological history and positive radiographic images (computed tomography (CT)
/Chest radiograph (CXR)) as well as positive pathogenic testing.
• Although typical CXR images may help early screening of suspected cases, the images of
various viral pneumonias are similar and they overlap with other infectious and
inflammatory lung diseases.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
• The proposed work is based on chest X-ray radiographic images
• The dataset are downloaded from the online dataset.
• The Chest X-ray images were only resized and normalized before applying as
input to the networks.
• The preprocessing techniques includes noise filtering , RGB to gray conversion
processes.
• The image augmentation techniques such as rotation, and translation are
implemented to generate COVID-19 training images.
• The ResNeXt – deep learning network is implemented in this proposed work, it
will extract the texture features and classifying the test image into three classes
such as, Normal, COVID-19 and Viral pneumonia.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
ADVANTAGES

• High accuracy and Precision

• High recognition rate

• Consumption of less time comparatively to other networks.
