What Is Recruitment ?
Recruitment refers to the process of attracting, screening, and selecting qualified people for a job at an organization or firm. According to Flippo ± Recruitment is the process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply for jobs in the organization.´

Purpose of Recruitment
1) To begin identifying and preparing potential job applicants who will be appropriate candidates. 2) To increase the pool of candidates at the minimum cost. 3) To increase the success rate of the selection process. 4) To increase organizational effectiveness.

Purpose of Recruitment (Cont.)
e) To meet organizations legal and social obligation. f) To help reduce the probability that job applicants, once recruited and selected will leave the organization only often a short period of time.

Recruitment Procedure
Recruitment is a process consisting of various activities, this Process Includes :
1. Recruitment Planning 2. Source of Recruitment 3. Contracting Sources 4. Application Pool 5. To Selection Process

Recruitment Planning
Recruitment process starts with its planning which involves the determination of number of applicants and type of applicants to be contacted. Number of Contacts: The organization has to plan about the number of application it should receive in order to fulfill all its vacancies with right personnel. Type of Contacts: This refers to type of personnel to be informed about the job opening based on job description and job specification.

Source of Recruitment
Basically ,there are two sources of recruitment Internal Sources: Present employees. External Sources: Workforce outside the organization.

Contacting Sources
After the finalization of sources from where the prospective candidates will be selected, the process of contacting these sources Starts. Recruitment is two ± way street; It Involves Recruiter & Recruit. 
The recruiter has the choice of whom, to recruit based on various information about the candidates. A recruit must have Information about the organization to decide whether to join it or not .

Whatever the method of recruitment is adopted, the ultimate objective is to attract as many as candidates as possible so as to have flexibility in selection. When the source of recruitment are contacted, the organization receives application from prospective candidates. The Number of applications depends on the type of organization, the type of jobs, and the conditions in specific human resource market.
