common interests living
◎ together in the same place.

➢ The family is the smallest


unit of the society which is
composed of the immediate
and non-immediate
members.

➢ An individual can form a family,
➢ a family can form a community,
and a community can form a
nation.

◎ It also shares significant elements of


common life as shown in their
manners, customs, traditions, and
modes of speech.

◎ Community is understood more in

two ways ( Manalili ,2014):


 Where people reside in relating to the
concept of ancient settlement

 Group of individuals who live near and


interact with each other

According to the Bible, the Community

◎ Genesis 1:27 (NIV) “So God created mankind


in his own image, in the image of God he
created them; male and female he created
them.”

◎ Man and woman were put together in the


Garden of Eden to watch and rule over
everything. Concentrates on the Lord and His
relationship with His creation.

different families who live in the
same place and share the same
interest and cultures

activities of a family that are also
being conducted by a community
includes the sharing of common
resources, working for the
common good, and building
harmonious relationships

family are also the basic
building blocks of any
community

communities are necessary in explaining
their actions and responsibilities

◎ These changes may be a result of innovation
in technology or social hierarchy
◎ Examples of Values:
◎ Solidarity, Commitment
○ Mutuality, Trust

◎ Types of Communities
◎ Since then, it has been recognized that people can belong
to different types of communities

◎ These types of communities may include:


a. Communities of Place- This is where people are linked
in a geographical sense
◉ Ex: neighborhood, town, workplace, etc.

Communities of Memory-

People here may technically be


considered as strangers but share or
are linked by a morally significant
history

Example: Going to church and


Seeing and greeting the same prople

every time they gather or meet
Communities of face-to-face
personal interaction-

In this type of community people are


governed by sentiments of trust,
cooperation, and altruism

● Example: friends, families, etc.

power house of the socieity
