LEARNED FROM
YOUR AUDIENCE
FEEDBACK?
AUDIENCE
First, we needed to establish what audience
we were making the film for.
As it is of Romantic Comedy genre, I found
from research that it was a young audience of
people aged 15-21 that the film would appeal
to.
The target audience we considered would be of
this age range with the majority of which being
female, though the use of male characters and
comedy would also provide an appeal to male
audiences who could empathise with the male
characters.
FILM FEEDBACK
Here is some of the feedback from the first draft:
I thought the acting was really good and the use of the different camera angles was really
effective´
I think you’ve done a good job of putting a new slant on the romantic comedy genre. The
story is simple and you have a nice range of music throughout.
There are moments that are a little jumpy but you have recognised this and can now fix this.
Some of the dialogue is also lost but the editing is concise and cutting.
It fits the genre well and there are several strong comedic moments. Once you gain more
audience feedback you can then see how you can improve this first draft.
The film will be really strong, once you smooth out the transitions
At times I can’t make out what it is the characters are saying, apart from that, it’s a really
engaging film!
From this feedback we were able to make alterations regarding the transitions and
increasing the volume of the dialogue so that it wasn’t drowned out by the background
music. The jumpy frames were difficult to change as this was down to how the clips were
uploaded, though we tried to trim as much of it out as possible.
FILM FEEDBACK (CONTINUED)
After making these alterations, we re-uploaded the film as a
final cut and made it available for further comments, these
proved to be a lot more positive...
“Well Done! I love the new version of the film!! The wide
variety of shots is very beneficial towards the film, and the
rapid cutting between scenes is perfect for the length of this
film. Your character “Geoff” is brilliant, he is really funny and
should have his own fan page! Once again, great work!”
“Mr Hobson is amazing, I like the shots at the end with the
pace sped up and then the slow motion when adam and charlie
look at each other.”
“It was a lovely tale with an intriguing twist in the guise of the
Mysterious Man. The acting was very natural and believable.”
POSTER FEEDBACK
The first draft of the poster had some
minor errors which were picked up by
those viewing it such as:
“There is a lot of blank space that could
be filled.”
“The actors look a little pale.”
“There are some grammatical errors but
other than that it looks great!”
From this we were able to make the
changes needed. First, we filled the
blank space with some promotional
quotes. Then we tinted the image of the
main characters slightly darker to reduce
the pale complexion. Finally we
corrected grammatical errors and
changed the font of the title to fill out
the space and grab more attention.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD FEEDBACK
“I like the running theme you have
between your film and your double
page spread... It suits your
production perfectly.”
“I think this says a lot about how
your Romantic Comedy is very
different from the typical genre...
The dark background proves that!”
“The dark background is very
striking, it adds to the mysterious
element of the piece.”
“Be sure to add a crease line so that
the fold doesn’t interfere with the
title and subtitles.”
From this I was able to space bar a The gap created for
gap between the title and subtitles the fold.
so that the fold could be made.
