If the cost of goods or services and compensation asked for is up to 20 lakhs the case can be filed in the concerned Consumer Forum. Normally a complaint is to be filed within two yeas from the date on which cause of action arose.

Any person aggrieved by an order made by District Forum may appeal to State Commission with in a period of 30 days. For cases more than 20 lakhs and up to one crore an appeal can be directly filed in State Commission.
