Product & Applications

The Electrical Engineering unit of Technobothnia offers the following laboratory models:

Hardware Simulator of a Power Generation Model

Hardware Simulator of a Power Transformer Model Hardware Simulator of a Power Transmission Model

Hardware Simulator of a Power Distribution Model

Motors/Generators Testing Model Power devices and appliances Harware Simulation of Power Electronics
Our laboratory models represent the exact match of real world systems and equipments designed especially to offer the best training and educations not only to students in the electrical engineering field, but also to professionals and technician working with similar models

Electrical Safety is a Priority

The laboratory models in Technobothnia are designed carefully to offer total safety to perform high voltage tests.

Hardware Simulator of Power Generation System

The model for the power generation system is composed of a power machine (Pn= 6,5KW), a synchronous generator (Pn= 6 kVA), a generator protection relay, a differential protection relay and a control panel

With the Hardware Simulator model it is possible to evaluate a power generation system and its components by simulating different faults that happen often in a real power generation station.

Hardware Simulator of Power Generation System

Example of Laboratory exercises: Protection of Generator at Grid Connection Stator earthing methods Over-Current protection Reverse Power protection Loss of Excitation Protection Stator winding fault protection Stator inter-turn fault protection Stator earth fault protection Over-voltage protection Under/over frequency protection Unbalance protection Disturbance recording

Hardware Simulator of Power Transformer System

The model for the power transformer system is composed of a high voltage circuit breaker, a high voltage current transformer, a voltage transformer, a differential relay and a control panel.

The HW model allow you to test a real power transformer. The Model can be set to measure all necessary data to calculate critical parameters and define the operating characteristics.

Hardware Simulator of Power Transformer System

Example of Laboratory exercises:
Differential protection operation principle Connections and vector group of the transformer Settings of the differential protection Measurements and calibrations Definition of the operating characteristics Differential current and biasing current Transformer internal faults and their generation Testing against internal faults Second harmonic blocking Disturbance recording

Hardware Simulator of Power Distribution System

Different operating conditions can be tested using the Hardware Simulator of a distribution network. The model can be used to evaluate a network and its components by simulating different operating conditions that happen often in a real network.

Hardware Simulator of Power Distribution System

Example of Laboratory exercises
Protection of neutral isolated MV network
Protection of earthed MV network Protection of resistive earthed MV network Protection of low impedance earthed MV network Local operation with the feeder terminal Testing of non-directional short circuit Auto-reclosings operations Testing different operating characteristics and earthing methods Testing of brocken wire conditions Measurements, calibrations and disturbance recording

Hardware Simulator: Motors Testing System

The model for the Motor testing and protection is composed of a three phase AC motor, current transformers, three phase power supply a motor protection relay module and a control panel.

With the Hardware Simulator model it is possible to test different motors and analyze their efficiently at different operating conditions.

Distribution Automation
The Distribution Automation Laboratory is equipped with: ABB MicroSCADA substation control system ABB Opera network management system Communication network between control system and field devices (IEDs) with several protocols: IEC 61850 IEC 870-5-101 LON SPA
Communication network utilizes different physical medias e.g. fibre optics, radio modem, conventional copper wires Wide variety of field devices (IEDs) from different vendors

ABB distribution network protection relays ABB remotely controlled dis-connector station VAMP distribution network protection relays* Siemens transmission network protection relay*
