2010 MPEG Industry Forum
History
2001:
Launch The MPEG Industry Forum was established in 2001. Originally known as the MPEG4 Industry Forum, MPEGIF was created to promote the MPEG family of standards. Clear Goals, Great Results MPEGIF works with industry leaders and major conferences to build a successful commercial ecosystem of MPEG-4/H.264/AVC advanced video compression products and services. Major Success! Microsoft announces support for MPEG-4/AVC in Silverlight at the MPEGIF Master Class at NAB. MPEGIF succeeds in its mission of helping to establish MPEG-4/AVC as the dominant state-of-the-art video compression standard. Goals & Challenges MPEGIF moves on to leverage its recognized leadership to resolve major issues facing the growth and evolution in the way in which content is created, secured, delivered and consumed. MPEGIF builds on its legacy by being a strong advocate for the adoption of global standards and by fighting the encroachment of proprietary solutions which prevent true market development.
