• Computer-brain interfaces are designed to transmit sensory information from the brain. . in which researchers aim to build a direct channel between the human brain and the computer.Introduction • Brain-computer interface (BCI) is a fast-growing emergent technology. • A Brain Computer Interface (BCI) is a collaboration in which a brain accepts and controls a mechanical device as a natural part of its representation of the body. or stimulate the brain through artificially generated electrical signals.

Human Brain .

.  By using BMI artificial electrical signal can stimulate the brain tissue in order to transmit some information.  These are electronic interfaces with the brain which has ability to send & receive signals from brain.BMI  A BMI is an attempt to mesh our minds with machine.

 We can control the brain function by artificially producing these signals and sending them to respective parts.  By monitoring or analyzing these signals. which can be read through a variety of devices. .  When the neuron fires or activates there is a voltage change across the cell.  The brain is composed of millions of neurons.MAIN PRINCIPLE OF BMI  Main principle behind this interface is the bioelectrical activity of nerves and muscles. we can understand the working of brain. These neurons work together in complex logic and produce thought and signal that control our bodies.

5 to 50 Hz.THE TECHNOLOGY USED IN BMI  Electroencephalography (EEG) is a technology used in measuring the electrical activity of the brain.  The EEG signal can be picked up with electrode either from scalp or directly from the cerebral cortex.  The normal EEG frequency content ranges from 0. .  The recording of EEG response is known as the electroencephalogram.  The EEG is measured from the surface of the scalp by measuring potential difference between the actual measuring electrode and a reference electrode.

Advantages  In this era where drastic diseases are getting common .  It provides better living . more features. Disadvantages  Getting the right codes out for the desired action . . more advancement in technologies. it is a boon if we can develop it to its full potential.  Extensive training required.

e. for example. .Applications There are many areas of applications for brainwave detection devices:  Medical/clinical applications  Assistive technology for people with disability i. a wheelchair or a mouse  Hands-free gaming. to control.

 We can say as detection techniques and experimental designs improve. .CONCLUSION  Concept of BMI have been used for a large number of applications in various fields. the BMI will improve as well and would provide wealth alternatives for individuals to interact with their environment.
