Sun is a medium size star.THE SUN The Sun is a star at the center of the solar system.5 billion years ago. It is a star because it gives out light and heat. . It consists of a ball of hot gases with nuclear reaction. The Sun is our nearest star and the engine for all live on Earth. The Sun is the biggest in the solar system. It was found 4.

It receives enough light and heat from the Sun. The temperature of the Earth is suitable to support life because it is not too cold. The atmosphere of Earth consists of gases in the correct composition to support life. . The Earth rotates from west to east.THE EARTH The placement of Earth in the solar system makes it a perfect planet to support life. nor too hot. This movement is called a revolution. It takes one year to make one complete movement around the Sun. The Earth spins on its axis like a spinning wheel. The Earth·s surface contains enough water for the survival of living things. This spinning motion is called rotation. It takes 24 hours to make one complete rotation.

The time taken for the Moon to make one rotation is the same as the time taken for it to go around the Earth.THE MOON Like the Earth the Moon also rotates on its axis from west to east. While rotating on its axis. we always see the same side of the Moon. Therefore. .

Half of the Earth is facing away from the Sun.DAY AND NIGHT The rotation of the Earth on its axis takes place at all times. However. This part of the Earth receives sunlight and experiences day. This part of the Earth does not receive sunlight and therefore is in darkness . Half of the Earth is facing the Sun. the position of the Sun is always fixed.
