In linguistics, morphology is the identification, analysis and description of the structure of morphemes and other units of meaning in a language like words, affixes, and parts of speech and intonation/stress.

'Morphology is the study of the rules governing the formation of words.'

y Words can often be divided into morphemes. y A morpheme represents the smallest unit of meaning in a word. y Free morpheme

-The word baseball consists of two morphemes and each morpheme can stand on its own as a word with meaning. y Bound morpheme -Words can have prefixes (un and pre); unhappy, roots; ball, suffixes (ing and able);unstoppable. For examples: basketballs (plural)
