MY CONTRIBUTION AT SITE
Material and material testing.

Execute the site work according to drawings.

Casting of building components like slab, Beam ,

column, Staircase.

Layout of tie beams.

Materials used at SITE

CEMENT: It is a substance, which acts as a binding

agent for building construction materials. The grades are 33 grade 43 grade(IS 8112:1989) 53 grade

AGGREGATES: Aggregate is the material which

actually takes the load and are mixed with the cement to have concrete. These are of 2 types, fine and coarse aggregates. Fine aggregates are called sand too.

Materials continue..
REINFORCING STEEL: Reinforcing steel consists of bars, usually circular in cross-

section.(Grade of steel Fe-415 ) Diameter: 8, 10, 12,16,25,32 mm diameter bars are used in: Beams
Columns Slabs

Concrete
CONCRETE: An artificially made material obtained

by mixing aggregates, cement and water in some specific proportion. Two types of concrete were used : Nominal concrete mix (in the PCC only) and it was of grade M15. Design concrete mix :-I(S 10262-2009)
At site prepared (in columns and footings only) and it

was of grade M30. At plant prepared(in slabs and beams only) and it was of grade M25

Design concrete mix (at plant prepared)

RMC CONTINUE..
Some basic quality of RMC(IS 4926:2003):It should be delivered in between a proper time given by plant provider It should maintain proper quality as that required at the site. Different kind of admixture should be used to maintain the concrete.

Admixture used at site was Sika rapid 1

containing no chlorides and nitrites which accelerates the setting .

Tests done for concrete at site

Slump test :

Used for the measurement of a property of fresh concrete The test is an empirical test

Compressive strength:

To determine the characteristic strength of the concrete

Very important to the acceptance of in-situ concrete work since it demonstrates the strength of the design mix.

SLUMP TEST OF WORKABILITY:Unsupported fresh concrete ,flow to the side and sinking in the height take place. This vertical settlement is known as slump.

SLUMP TEST CONTINUE..

Apparatus:-Iron pan, spatula, trowels, weighing plate form machine, tamping rod and graduated cylider.

Procedure: Place the mix concrete in the clean slumped cone mould in four layers. Tamp each layer 25 times with tamping rod.

Strike off the top with a trowel. Remove the cone immediately. Measure the settlement of concrete in mm which will a slump.

Collapse

Shear

True

In a collapse slump the concrete collapses completely.

In a shear slump the top portion of the concrete shears off and slips sideways.

In a true slump the concrete simply subsides, keeping more or less to shape.

Compressive strength test

Apparatus :- 150 mm cube moulds,ramming

rod ,mixer, weighing machine, universial testing machine, buckets,Base plate. Style of putting cube was perpendicular to the filling style. Test was done after 7 days and 28 days.

Procedure:(1) Pour concrete in the moulds oiled with a medium viscosity oil.

We are using motor vehicle oil for this purpose .

(3) Fill concrete in the moulds in two layers each of 75 mm. (4) With 35 blows evenly distributed over the surface of layer.

(5) Struck off concrete flush with the top of the moulds. (6) Curing:-Specimen are removed from the moulds after 24 hours and cured in water for 28 days.

Sand silt test

Object:-get an idea

of the amount of silt in a natural sand.

Procedure
First make a salt-water solution by putting one teaspoon of salt into 1/2liter of water. Put this solution into the measuring cylinder, up to the 50 ml mark. Next pour in the sand until the level of the sand is up to the 100 ml mark. Add more salt water until the water reaches the 150 ml mark. cover the cylinder and shake it well. Stand the cylinder on a level surface and tap it gently until the top surface of the sand is level. Leave it to settle for 3 hours and then measure the height of the silt layer on top of the sand. This should be no more than about 6 ml, or about 6% of the total amount of sand.

FOUNDATION
Slopped foundation(trepezoid footing) was

used. It is the type of spread footing which come under sallow foundation.

Colum casting
Concrete
M30
Prepared at site only, NO CONCRETE FROM

ISOLATED PLANT DUE TO ECONOMY

Reinforcement
Main Reinforcement : 25 mm, 32mm

Tie Bars : 8 mm

Slab Casting
Concrete
M25 RMC Concrete from offsite plant

Reinforcement
Main reinforcement : 10 mm & 12 mm Distribution reinforcement : 8mm Cranks provided according to BMD in design

to cater negative moment due to fixed support. Concrete blocks provided : Thickness = cover Chairs of 10 mm bar

Slab Casting continue..

Concreting
Concrete was pumped by assembly of pipes. Once it was pumped on slab Reinforcement

cage, it was vibrated to prevent segregation of

concrete and to ensure uniformity in concrete of slab.

Beam Casting
Beam is designed for flexure and shear.

Concrete
M25

Prepared at RMC Plant. Transported and pumped to

beam.
Reinforcement 20and25 mm bars for main reinforcement, and 8

mm bar for stirrups(shear reinforcement).
