Introduction

Mei Sim and her mother went for a visit to Tua Ees house. Mei sims mother always visit Tua Ee to ask for advice. Tua Ee has a daughter, Siem Eng whom she treated like a slave just because the fortune teller told her that Siew Eng will bring bad luck in the family. After lunch in Tua Ees house, they receiced a visit form Uncle Muti and his son. They are Tua Ees tenant. 1 JAN 2012, IPG KAMPUS BATU Tua PISMP TESL Then, Uncle Muti gave4/24/12 Ee two

Climax:

Mei Sim was curious of Uncle Mutis son so she approached him and asked him to play with her. The boy was attracted to Mei Sims dress because he has never seen such a nice dress before. Then, Mei Sim offered him to touch her dress.

Falling action:

Mei Sims mother saw the incident and she scolded Mei Sim immediately. Uncle Muti also scolded his son of being rude and immediately left the house.

Resolution:

Mei Sim was ashamed so she lied that it was the boy who pulled her dress.

The significance of the title:

Shame can be determined as a dignity and image of a person. In Baba and Nyonyas culture, it is important for girl to take care of her dignity as well as her pride. Girl should avoid anything that could scratch her image so that her good name is maintain.

The importance of having a good manner.

Superstitious - Siew Eng was treated badly because her mother believed that she brought bad luck in the family because the fortune teller told the mother that the daughter was cursed. This prove that Tua Ee is clearly superstitious.

The importance of the practice of visiting. - From the story, we can concluded that it is important for the family members to visit each other especially the eldest. This helps to strengthen the relationship. - This also shows the readers that Baba and Nyonyas community are close knitted.
