His belief that management was an activity common to all human beings in business. and even in the home led him to develop 14 principles of management. organize.THE 14 PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT Henri Fayol ( 1841-1925) was the French managing theorist and director of large coal mining firm. production. as known today. organizing. These are known as the fundamental rules of management that could be taught in schools and applied in all organizational situations. Fayol was the first to identify the four functions of managements: planning. and controlling. finance. and control. distribution. His original definition of management comprised of five elements: forecast and plan. government. and other typical business functions. . directing. He became famous by writing 14 principles of management. He described the practice of management as something distinct from accounting. command. coordinate.

These principles serve as guidelines for decisions and action of managers. Management principles are statements of fundamental truth. It shows that the best book about management is Quran and one can become good manager by understanding the Holy Quran and following the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed. underlying factors that form the foundations of successful management according to Henri Fayol (1841-1925) in his book General and Industrial Management (1961). .These principles are considered as most comprehensive principles of management. The reason behind this is that these principles are actually derived from teachings of Islam. The principles of Management are the essential. They are derived through observation and analysis of events which managers have to face in practice.
