AHMEDABAD TODAY
Indias seventh largest city today. Area of 490 sq kms. Finance and administrative hub of Gujarat. Population of 5.6 million-decadal growth of 75%. 1.45 million vehicles, growing at 7% per year. 2 wheelers -73 % (vehicle share). Bus trips 6.7 lacs per day. Average trip length 6.8 kms.

AHMEDABADS VISION-JANMARG (BRTS)

Dedicated to the people of Ahmedabad on October 14th 2009 by Honourable Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi

The Ahmedabad BRTS was officially named as Janmarg by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Chief Minister in January 2007.Janmarg, literally means people's way - a streat that would carry the citizens of Ahmedabad in safety, comfort and at high speeds.

WHAT IS JANMARG BRTS


System
Janmarg BRTS was conceptualized as public transit system.

Ownership
Primary responsibility is in the hands of the Municipal Corporation. Government of Gujarat AUDA and Police have provided full support to the initiative AMC is supported Gujarat.

Passenger studies
A proper operations plan is under development for all form of public transit which includes Janmarg BRT and AMTS to form a comprehensive and integrated system for passenger convenience form a comprehensive and integrated system for passenger convenience.

Limitation of BRTS
Due to expansion of BRTSs route traffic crises arise. Limited routes Effected regular traffic system High Expenses on training and maintenance.

Suggestion for Janmarg BRTS


Improve the transportation services Reduce ticketing cost Time management & suffiiency Attractive facility for public-some example like television facility,cultral programme on brts. Increase frequency in buses

TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL


Strong contracting clauses and close monitoring Secure, efficient and simple fare collection systems one of the most successful BRT systems in the world. Strong in house capacity of the team through training Creating conducive public spaces like parking slots for Janmarg passengers
