• The Socio economic Unit believes in smart partnerships through our IGR Forum to reach our objectives. Witzenberg is the only municipality in the Cape Winelands area which started a monthly IGR Forum consisting on 6 Sub committees namely Poverty Alleviation, ECD, Youth, Community Safety, Health and Vulnerable Groups ( Women, Farm workers, Disabled, Children). Pro-poor Policies (e.g. indigent subsidies)

NSTITUTIONAL - COE • Social development is simply not a core function of municipalities and the budgets is therefore limited. • Global warming and climate change threaten our agriculturally based economy • Substance abuse can become a threat • Farm evictions increase • TB and HIV/AIDS

CENNSTITUTIONAL - COE • Local government need to prioritise Gender on all levels of the institution • Budgets for Gender mainstreaming need to be prioritise • On going Community awareness on Gender mainstreaming is critical • Intergovernmental partnerships is imperative to strengthened all Gender programmes
