HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT IDENTIFYING THIS PROBLEM?

Unemployment and a need for fresh produce no fresh produce available on a daily basis for the community, hence the green scheme which the government advocates to go green (healthy diet). After consultation with stakeholders it became clear that elders as well as HIV positive persons in our society were in dire need of a green diet to meet their nutritious needs

Yes eradicates poverty and supplements dietary needs of the community members. cost effective method and safes a lot of water. employs six (6) people from the local community and provides training to 10 (ten) Spitzkoppe community members Aim is to train the entire Region.

Holding awareness sessions Open day sessions to encourage home gardening and sustainable use of resources. Handing out leaflets/flyers to schools, churches, youth groups for marketing as well as information sharing. Taking part in Local, Regional as well as National Business Exposition to create networking on a broader scale.

Solid partnership with the Rossing Foundation, a local NGO, the Arandis Town Council, the Arandis Constituency Councillor,t he local business community (Mummys Restaurant, Arandis Supermarket etc) and the general public.

Financial Resources: N$ 12 000 .00 N$ 20 000 .00 Human Resources: started with two people and now have employed six and trained fourteen in total.

CREATIVITY: ARE YOU USING ARTS, CULTURE, MEDIA AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO POPULARISE THE ISSUES?

Engaging of schools during their tours to take some of the materials as display materials for expositions. Local newsletter (Arandis Newsletter) publishes the project occasionally as well as the E Rossing Bulletin (Mining newsletter). Engage in local shows to promote the lets go green National theme.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Evaluation: Clientele base has increased - a sign that the project needs more operational space Record keeping: during plantation, seeds planted and dates is recorded and during harvesting the harvest is weighed Monitoring of trend to determine the next harvest

WHAT RESULTS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED?

Created employment opportunities. Nutritional needs of vulnerable community members have improved. The project is now self-sustainable. Community members access to the project side for information has increased. Home gardens have been established. The project serves it produce to a wider range.

The project is currently sustaining itself. We provide training to people who request it thus it can be replicated but it does not serve as a deterring factor for the current project members and employees.

Care work: it has taught us to be humble and provide to the needy within our society.
