Cilla is a third generation actress that comes from a normal or disfunctional family depending on how you look at it. She considers herself a washed up child actress and pretty much a failure at everything she tries to accomplish. She has never met her deceased grandmother but she feels connected to her and so she buys her old farm from her mother ,using bribes and heavy persuasion. Cilla fell in love with the place on her first visit just as her grandmother had 30 years before. Now neglected and overgrown with weeds, Cilla sees what the place could be or rather what it had been when her grandmother had lived there....Cilla takes the challenge of fixing up the place very seriously. It's personal to her. In rebuilding her grandmother's old farm , she hopes to pay respect to her memory and somewhere along the line she hopes to find herself as well. Even though Cilla was up for the challenge, she had no idea what she was about to discover in that old dusty attic that would change history for her and her family. This was my first Nora Roberts and i must admit i enjoyed it alot. It was a "modern day, romance/mystery, who done it" that had me guessing for a long time. I did figure out who the mystery lover was in the middle of the novel but the other villian really had me stumped....I was surprised...Very good ending!!
OMG..is all i can say. I was shocked to think that this "religious group" and it's founders are still out there doing this to more innocent children. I am appalled that nothing has been done to bring these children justice. I have seen brainwashing and abuse before. I understand how it can totally twist your whole perception of life and leave eternal scars, but never have i seen it on such a large scale and with children!! God bless these 3 sisters and the other ex-members for trying to do something about it.This book will bring about every emotion you can think of. I thought the book was very well written. Even though the story was written in 3 seperate versions, i was easily able to keep up. I dont know if anyone can read this book and not feel emotionally involved. It will definitely get to you so go ahead and get the tissues ready...
I love Joel. He is so inspiring. This book was educational and actually a little humorous. His message will open your eyes and make you evaluate EVERYTHING you do from here on out. He has a way of gently explaining things so everyone can get it. I would recommend this to anyone.
This book will always be my favorite from Grisham. It definelty has you thinking. There is no way you can read this book and not ask yourself what you would do if you were put into that kind of situation. I was in a trance until i finally finished it. This is one was of those books that had me thinking about it days later. Great read!!!
I really didnt think i would like it because i usually dont get into the vampire books, but it was pretty good. The characters were very likeable. The story reads pretty fast. I was finished in one day. I thought it was very interesting and full of action and adventure and a little romance. I will probably read more from the series.
I have read Susan Wiggs before a few years ago and I enjoyed it so i was very excited when i found out that i had won this one. I have never read it before so it was new to me. The book starts out by jumping directly into the Navy jargon and it is a little confusing for all non-navy readers but i thought i caught on pretty quick. The book moves around a lil bit from present, to past , to present again and at first it was bugging me but in about the middle of it I really began to appreciate the way Susan decided to tell this story. The story had a few little twists and turns that kept you on the edge. A few times I thought I knew exactly what was coming but it went in a totally new direction. Which to me, makes for a great read. I thought it was a very good story with well thought out likeable characters and written very well. It's usually not something that i would just pick up and read but i'm so glad that i did....
I expected a little more gore or action from a vampire book. I thought it had a great story, although, a little tame for me. It is an easy read. A bit of suspense and sex , just enough to keep you interested.
Good read. I enjoyed this book. I really dont think i have read one of Jude's that i didnt like. This one had a great story that made me feel so sad for Jace. Full of crazy happenings, ghosts and mystery with a touch of romance at the end. It was very entertaining.
12 years after her mothers death Megan Blair starts to hear the voices again. Now a strong independant doctor, just out of med school, she has enjoyed a normal life thus far. That is until Neal Grady pays her a visit. She finds out that the past 12 years have been a lie invented by Grady to keep her safe. Grady is forced to finally tell her the truth because now the "monster" has found her and he wont rest until she is dead. An evil man named Molino thinks that Megan's mother was a pandora and that she killed his son. Molino is involved in drug and child slave trading and is virtually untouchable. Hell bent on getting his revenge, he hired a man to kill Megan's mother and Megans' next on his hit list. Megan must face the fact that she is a listener and maybe a pandora as well. The idea alone scares her almost as much as Molino. When Molino backs her into a corner, Megan must decide to either run for the rest of her life or stand and fight. Full of suspense and action, this book is definetly a keeper. The story was WAY out there but i believe that it works in this case. Iris has created characters that you will love , and some that you will love to hate. Either way you're sure to be entertained. The only thing that bothered me was the hot/cold love interest between Megan and Grady. It was very distracting and in my opinion unnecessary.
This one was generally just ok for me. I was expecting more from Iris. I have read alot of her books and this one pales in comparison. It was entertaining and had good moments. I just dont think that i clicked with the story.
