Sins of the Flesh (Sin Hunters, #1)

by

Caterina makes a difficult decision. The only way that she can survive is by hoping a new, experimental gene treatment will save her. After receiving this treatment, she is changed in ways that she had never imagined. When she is accused of murder, she does the only thing that seems logical, she runs.Mick is searching for a cold-blooded killer, little did he know that Caterina is nothing like he was told. The two have a magnetic attraction toward each other. Giving in to their desires may cost them their lives.Loved it! I love the characters and I couldn't help but root for them. I'm looking forward to more of Caridad's work.
Alex & Me

by

Alex, an African Grey parrot, died at the ripe old age of 31. His brain may be small but he was an extremely intelligent creature. Irene loved her best friend Alex and was devastated when he passed away. This book shows that you don't have to be human to steal a humans heart.I adore my dogs and I have a special connection with them that can never be broken. I know about the love Irene felt for Alex and she told her story beautifully.
Changing My Mind: Occasional Essays

by

This book is a collection of essays that give you a chance to befriend the author. The book is divided into four sections that are: Reading, Being, Seeing and Feeling. Reading this book made me look at some things a little differently. I started understanding things that I never understood before. At the same time, I was forced to rethink some of my own thoughts because I saw them from a different perspective. If you like to dig deep down and think about the meaning behind life, this is the perfect book to sit down with.
My Parent's Bedroom (A Story from Say You're One of Them)

by

I've never had to worry about not having food or shelter. I never had to wonder whether or not I would be able to attend school. These are some things that have always been an automatic in my life. I find that a lot of people take the most simple things for granted, me included. I don't know what I would do if I were to walk in someone else's shoes. One of the main reasons I love books is because it gives you a chance to be someone else. At least until you turn the last page. Part of the reason that I am as strong as I am, is because reading gives me strength. This book/audiobook, cannot be read/heard without feeling a sense of empowerment. As you've probably guessed, I really enjoyed this.

The children of Vietnam have a place to turn to instead of living on the streets. Two Americans, Iris and Noah, have created a home for these children and have taken it upon themselves to teach this group of under privileged youth. Iris is taken with these children who have also taught her a thing or two. This is an uplifting novel that captivated me. I couldn't help but be drawn in by these characters. John is an amazing writer with endless talent.
100 Places in Italy Every Woman Should Go

by

The one place that I want to see before I die, is Italy. I've always been fascinated with the beauty of Italy. It's such a gorgeous place and I adore Italian food. I know for a fact that the first place I would visit would have to be Rome. I want to see the Pieta at Saint Peter's Basilica. Then I would move on to Florence to see the Costume Gallery. Of course I would have to visit Florence. After reading this book, I want to go more than I ever imagined possible. The details included brought Italy to life for me. I hope I get to take a trip soon.

Fall to Pieces: A Memoir of Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll, and Mental Illness

by and

Mary ended up in a mental institution after throwing her husbands clothes out and setting them on fire. She suffered from depression and would lay in bed for days. A lot of the time, she didn't even know why she was reacting a certain way. Addiction and depression seem to go hand in hand, so Mary was battling both. It's an absorbing read that hits close to home for me. I too suffer from depression and it is a very difficult illness to live with. I know how brave Mary must be to pour out her life for the whole world to read. She's a strong woman and I hope that her book inspires others to get the help they need.
Blue Bells of Scotland: Blue Bells Trilogy One

On the outside, it looks like Shawn has it all. He has a girlfriend named Amy but that doesn't stop his female admirers. When he wakes up one morning, Amy is gone and he is Niall, a warrior. These two completely different people are now living each others life. Will they figure out a way to return to their natural lives or will they now live the rest of their lives as someone else?Absolutely brilliant! I was so taken with this book and I am impatiently waiting the second installment.
The Wildest Heart

Rowena is an independent woman. When her grandfather passes away, she finds herself being handed the duties of her grandfather. She reads a diary that belonged to her father and figures out that she is supposed to smooth things over with her family's rivals. Rowena is hot tempered, especially when conversing with the opposite sex. Will she be able to do what she is destined to or will her pride stand in her way?I loved the dialogue in this book! Rowena reminds me a lot of myself and I was able to picture everything that was happening to her as though it was happening to me.
