** spoiler alert ** I almost stopped reading this book because it was so sad. I thought it would be disrespectful if I didn't finish because it was a true story and the author poured her heart into this book. It's says somewhere that it is “A non-fiction version of She's come undone." I kind of liked She's come undone but I liked this one much better. A terrible childhood, filled with everything possible that could go wrong. Moore didn't obsess with food. She did enjoy food very much. She just simply was fat and couldn't change that. No matter how hard she tried to loose the weight, it never completely went away. She would then gain it all back. I really admire and praise Moore for opening up and sharing her story which no doubt, was very difficult to do. She had even said that writing the novel opened up past memories that were hurtful and was something she wished she didn't have to do. If you are chunky/fat/over-weight this book may hit home with you. It may touch you more than it would a skinny person. I guess because we've been there and we can relate to Moore's experiences. In the end, I was speechless. I was just so sad that her life had laid out that way. So unfortunate. I just hope things get better for her in the future. I hope she does find that one "fat man" as she describes and he makes her SO HAPPY she will forget her past. I hope he mends her wounds and loves her dearly. I'm going to pass this book on to a friend, perhaps with a box of tissues.
While I am still in limbo of what I want to study in school. I found this book very helpful for someone who wants an MBA. There were helpful tabs with long term planning, essay writing, and even resume tips!!! The book even helps you with interviews which I think i speak for everyone when I say that interviews are no fun at all! Overall a highly reccommended book for anyone interested in MBA. The title does speak for itself when it says complete start to finish because the book does help you with everything along the way!
Brundage's novel reminded me of a James Patterson novel, which I love! I really enjoyed it. The story was great, jumping from each characters lives and thoughts. It was hard to tell who was the "bad guy", until clearly in the end, which is even debatable. You really have to make your own opinion and judgment on the characters and decide for yourself who to love or hate. At first, I was sympathetic towards Hugh, then i became disgusted with his actions, thoughts, and sexual behavior. He was just a pig! I loved how the story unfolded. It was like a movie within a movie. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a little action, mystery, and drama.
I do believe in the secret, but really it's no secret at all. Just positive thinking. Some things are meant to happen and there's nothing you can do about it, but I do believe that if you live a positive life good things do come to you. I guess you can say it worked for me. After reading this book I wanted to try to see if it worked. So I kept saying that I got the job that I'd been wishing for. I had applied and was waiting for a call back. I ended up getting like 4 calls for jobs! I swear to god! It's always like that, it seems. Like "when it rains, it pours". But I'm happily employed now. I don't know if it was because of "the secret" or not but I did try it out on that. The book was more or less like little lists and letters compiled together. It's not really anything I'd pass along to anyone.
Felt like it took me forever to read! Looonnngg, overwritten, & confusing.I didn't know how to tell memories from fantasies from nightmares to present. Had to re-read a few times. There were many inside jokes and saying's often repeated throughout the book. Like Ming I don't know what that is? LOL Did I miss something?And..did Josie really kill that dog?Ehh, strange.
Hell and back is right! This girl was nuts! Her mom, too! Sending her daughter oversea's to a rehab slash boarding school is not what normal parents do..but hey maybe they should. I never knew places like that exsisted. Quite frankly, it scared me. They should send some people from Hollywood to that school..oh, you can't, it got raided for complaint's of abuse and neglect. The story is real. That's what is so great about it. Mia's problems don't just go away with a cup of hot-chocolate. It was nice to see that even the whole family went to therapy and counseling. I was glad that there wasn't a fairy tale ending like most books...this book was mostly the hard part that other books lack. Pretty good read.
Very quick read. I always love reading about addiction and "druggie" novels and this was def one of them. I was not surprised to see how in demand regular prescription drugs are. While most of us do not know that our medicine cabinet is a goal mine to some people. This book may shed some light on parents or adults who may have their pill bottles lying around. I guess it's time to lock those up,too. Oh, and the Nyquil. Can you believe that? It's a scary world out there.
Couldn't finish it. Too many things going on. Kinda blah. Jumping from one thing to another it seems. From the reviews I've read, I see I'm not the only one who put the book down. I don't feel so bad now
I love Chelsea, first off. I pretty much worship her. I love her blunt, hilarious, and care-free attitude. I like to think I'm alot like her. Her book was great, if you like her and get her humor. Each chapter she tells you about her spontaneous lifestyle and sexual experiences. Most of it is made up (I hope) But each chapter is a new experience and it's hilarious! She describes her friends and family in funny details and you feel like she's right there with you. A quick read, easy to read, light, funny and cute.
