Modoc: True Story of the Greatest Elephant That Ever Lived

by

This book is wonderful! It's absolutely stunning! It is a wonderful book about a boy and an elephant that he grew up with. But when the elephant, Modoc, is about to be sold, the boy does everything possible to stay with her, including smuggling himself onto her ship. This story follows a love between a man and an elephant that has never been told before. It is truly captivating.
I Am Number Four: (Lorien Legacies Book 1)

A wonderfully written book that will keep you up late into the night reading. Don't be put off by the fact that it is about aliens, it is written in a new way that is very good.
The Host: A Novel

I was not expecting much when I picked up this book. After all, it is Stephanie Meyer's, and let's face it, "Twilight" was not that good. I picked up this book despite my misgivings, and was pleasantly surprised. I had a hard time remembering that Meyer's wrote this book. I felt like someone else besides her wrote it. And then I got to the love triangle part. That was predictable, and could have been avoided. Otherwise this was a great adventure book. I truly did enjoy it. As for the movie that they are talking about, well we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Shadow Dragons

This is the fourth book in the series, and at first I wasn't into it. The time travel and other dimensions in time were over my head and I had no idea what they were talking about and what the problem was. Then Edgar Allen Poe showed up and I was taken. Poe was hilarious along with a few new characters. James Owen pulled off another masterpiece.
Witches Abroad: A Novel of Discworld

I didn't know whether to laugh, or to take this book seriously. Seriously! This book follows three witches who are fairy godmothers, yet they can't seem to do anything right. People don't know if they should be afraid of them, or to just humor them. I feel like I need to read this book over and over to understand everything that is going on. Its one of those books that will stay with you for a while.
The Silver Chair: The Chronicles of Narnia

by

Possibly the most beautiful book that I have ever read. This edition has all of the books in chronological order along with snippets of "Beyond the Wardrobe." Not to mention the fact that is is gold leafed on the edges, and just beautifully bound in blue. The books themselves are wonderful. They transport the reader into Narnia, and it is so much fun seeing the children grow and overcome challenges. Lewis also manages to keep things light by adding in some humor. Lewis was a brilliant man to write books that have become classics.
