This book is my favorite so far. I loved the theme of the story and the concept. Still had brooding vampires in it but not so much as usual. Also a much better adventure then any of the other stories in this series. Hopefully the series stays as interesting through the rest of it.
This book started off really badly and I almost didn't finish it. It felt like all the duchesses were whining brats that were married but had affairs that weren't even secret from their husbands. In fact is was like it was expected! It felt like it was a Victorian age Melrose Place and it was a giant soap opera. Not really my thing. I would have given it one star but it did get a little better in the end and I was happy with the ending. I don't think I will be reading the rest of this series though.
This story was pretty good. It started off a little slow but then it picked up and had some great parts in it. Even though I prefer romance stories it was nice to have an adventure story added to the mix. Well it was a paranormal adventure story so it wasn't so plain. Anyway I suggest this story on audio book because there are a lot of great characters, including the main characters dog, which the narrator does all the voices for.
This is a fun quick read. Although I am not a huge fan of fairy stories I did like this one. I think what gets me about the fairy stories is that their "history" is confusing with the different courts and all. Also fairies are very tricky and there are always lots of rules to follow or else the main characters(or mortals) always seem to be getting into trouble with the fairies. So overall I give it 4 stars.
