The Outsiders

by

We have read so many book in school, and this is my favorite! It was such a good book. The Outsiders is about two rival gangs, the Socs and the Greasers. We also see three brothers (Ponyboy, Sodapop, Darrel) who live together after their parents died. Darrel is the oldest and tries his best to take care of his brother. Each brother is struggling to find themselves. This was such an amazing novel. A lot happens to these characters that make them who they are. You feel for each character in different ways. While this book is sad, it is still an enjoyable book. I think everyone should read it! This was also made into a movie, and that was great as well!
The Burning: A Novel

by

--"When her voice had fallen silent forever." The Burning by Jane Casey is a crime novel about a serial killer identified as the Burning Man by the media. He has beaten four women to death and sets their bodies on fire and watches them burn. Rebecca Haworth is believed to be the fifth victim of this serial killer. But for detective Meave Kerrigan, something about her death is not like the others. Is she really a fifth victim or is there a copy cat killer? Meave will do whatever it takes, even putting herself in harms way, in order to find the Burning Man and find out what really happened to Rebecca. Wow, this was a really good book. From the start Jane draws readers in. I wanted to know right from the beginning what would happen next. I really liked Jane's writing and how she draws her readers in. Meave was a very likable character. I loved the way Jane decides to wrap things up at the end with the "note". (I don't want to give to much away, so I wont go further.) I also liked how she used newspaper articles to bring everything up to date. I chose to start with that quote from the book, because unfortunately it fits all the victims, Rebecca the most. This is definitely a must read, especially for people who love crime novels. I will for sure read more by Jane.
Just Listen

by

Just Listen was the first book I read by Sarah Dessen and ever since then I have been hooked. Sarah is a great teen writer. I think any of her books a teen can relate to and this book is one of them!Just Listen is about a girl named Annabel, who goes from someone who has everything, to feeling alone. Her best friend stops hanging out with her and she has family issues at home. Then one day she meets a music obsessed teen named Owen. And from here they form a bond through music. This bond is like no other. He helps here deal with some things that happened in the past.I loved this book! One reason is because of Annabel and Owen. They were perfect together! This is defiantly a 5 star book and if you are looking for a great teen read, this is your book!
Sugar and Spice (LA Candy, Book 2)

by

This is the last book in the L.A. Candy series. The book picks up with the girls filming season 2 of LA Candy. Jane is having guys trouble again and having issues with her co-stars. She is not enjoying filming as much as she did. Scarlett is the same way. The show is getting in the way of her personally life, especially with Liam. Madison's sister,Sophia, that no one knew she had comes to town. Sophia knows a lot about Madison's past that Madison would like to keep secret. And Gaby has a new publicist who is making her change for media attention. Great book to end the series. The end felt a little rushed in order to wrap everything up, but other then that it was good!

A Thousand Splendid Suns

by

A Thousand Splendid Suns is about two girls, Mariam and Laila. It explores their lives in Afghanistan. Both are such strong women for enduring all the pain and loss that they did throughout their lives. Throughout the novel we get to see how life if like here and what women went through in this time period and how men had so much control over the women. I never realized what went on in other countries. This book was different then any other books I have read before. But I really liked it and Hosseini's writing. Each women's story was heartbreaking. They both suffered such great losses, but that is what made them so much stronger. I was glad that I finally read this book. I learned a lot from this book
