White Lines

by

White Lines was fast paced-appropriate, since the main charater is a coke addict. I think teenagers will enjoy the gritty realism. My only complaint: the ending. This girl was a hot mess the entire book- a derailed train who suddenly pulled it all together in the last 10 pages. I liked the character, and while part of me is glad to see her 'safe' at the end, another part of me screams, she should have died.
The Storm: A novel

Even though the author informs the reader about the death of one of the main characters very early in the book-we don't learn HOW until almost the last page, which kept me turning them.
See You at Harry's

Characters as big as the literary giants they are named after. Touching look at family life. Read with box of tissues nearby!
Alligators Overhead

I think MG students will enjoy this novel. The protagonist, a boy who is living with his aunt after the death of his parents,is both mischeveous and courageous. The plot is engaging. Voice is solid and humorous. Rich word choice-I especially loved the creative names! A quick, easy, fun read.

Easy read with plenty of action and monsters to keep the kids hooked. Cool cover will make them grab it off the shelf.

The Wives of Henry Oades

Great story-hard to know who to root for in this tale. Sad story with all three main characters being very likable.
When Tito Loved Clara

Lots of twists as we follow several sad characters through their trials and tribulations.
As Simple as Snow

Left me with too many unanswered questions-about almost every major character-to be truely satisfying.
The Monstrumologist: The Terror Beneath

I don't consider myself to be a horror fan-but I really enjoyed this book. The author did a fantastic job creating a cast of characters that were believable and I loved the protagonist/narrator Will Henry. The plot was fast paced and had just enough twists & turns to keep me interested. Enjoyed it so much I'm off to read book two in the series!
