Any Given Doomsday

Sorry for the delay in this review. I recieved this book at a very busy time in my year. I did read it right away - however there was nothing that really stood out in my mind. I thought I was just because my focus was on all the other events going on. I re-read this book a second time and found it was not very outstanding. This is an easy read for taking my mind off my everydaty events: but it did not grab my attention and hold it til the end of the book.
Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road

This is not a book I would normally read - a high school friend from years ago mentioned he had just finished reading this book and I should read it. I was amazed at how much I enjoy the style, pace and descriptions used in this book. I did recommend it to a number of people - A great story- written with clarity, compassion and understanding of the human mind and how we deal with tragedy in our lives.
Powers: A Novel

This was an interesting mix of charachters and locations. I found the book to be fast paced and entertaining. This was a good read for an escape read. I will read this one again for the entertainment value, while at the beach or on the deck. However, there was no real depth to the plot or charcters.
The Heights

I found this book an entertaining read. The young couple were faced with many of the challenges we all face. They had a solid marriage, despite the pressure of living up to their neighbours. The decision that seemed to change all is blamed on being friends with the arrival of a new comer to the heights, my question is, is it really her fault or perhaps a charachter flaw of the young couples relationshipo, that they were not able to focus and discuss what was going on. Perhaps they just forgot what was really important in their goal to move up in society. The relationships and interaction of the characters in this book are very real and believable.

I found this book to be very helpful for anyone dealing with a loved one who has ALS - My Grandmother passed away with ALS and I would have loved to have had this resource to guide our family though the diagnosis and progression of ALS. Some area's are more technical than our needs, but their is information for eveyone in this one volume.I would recommend this item be available when a patient is suspected of having ALS - the book is well written and has the answers to many of the questions we had.I asked my Mother if she would like to review this book, and her thought were the same as mine. I very useful book for anyone dealing with people diagnosed with ALS.
