This is an excellent novel. I love the characters and the story keeps you moving along, wondering what's behind Hailsham. The central gimmick is not new, but Ishiguro makes a compelling story out of it. The only thing that bothered me about the story was the stranded boat. Why was everybody so interested in it? I get all its metaphorical weight, I just don't understand it in a real world sense. Why would all the donors take such an interest in it? It's a minor quibble though.
