SECTION 48 PLANNING ACT 2008 REGULATION 4 INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING (APPLICATIONS: PRESCRIBED FORMS AND PROCEDURE) REGULATIONS 2009

Notice publicising a proposed application for a development consent order for the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
Thames Water Utilities Limited (Thames Water), whose registered office is at Clearwater Court, Vastern Road, Reading, Berkshire RG1 8DB, intends to make an application (the proposed application) to the Secretary of State for a development consent order to authorise the construction, operation and maintenance of the Thames Tideway Tunnel project (the Project). The project involves intercepting flows from existing combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to tackle untreated sewage overflowing into the tidal River Thames and comprises the following elements: astewater storage and W transfer tunnels between: Thames Waters existing operational sites at Acton Storm Tanks and Abbey Mills Pumping Station ('the main tunnel'); the tunnel would run from Acton Storm Tanks to the River Thames and then underneath the river as far as Rotherhithe where it would divert to the north east via the Limehouse Cut terminating at the Abbey Mills Pumping Station. King George's Park in Wandsworth and the proposed main tunnel site at Carnwath Road Riverside in Fulham ('the Frogmore connection tunnel') via the CSO drop shaft at Dormay Street; Thames Water's existing operational site at Greenwich Pumping Station and the proposed main tunnel site at Chambers Wharf in Southwark ('the Greenwich connection tunnel') via the CSO drop shafts at Deptford Church Street and Earl Pumping Station: hafts to be used for the construction, s operation and maintenance of the main tunnel and the Frogmore and Greenwich connection tunnels as described in Table 1; SO drop shafts, short connection C tunnels and associated development for the interception of flows from existing CSOs and the diversion of those flows into the main tunnel or the Frogmore or Greenwich connection tunnels as described in Table 1; orks to modify Thames Waters w existing Shad Thames Pumping Station at Maguire Street in Southwark rovision of a shaft and modifications p to the existing sewer at Bekesbourne Street in Tower Hamlets; ssociated development to facilitate a construction of the tunnels and shafts described above including: creation of construction sites and access from the public highway including works to the public highway provision of new utilities and services and diversion of existing utilities provision of temporary cofferdams, construction of new river walls, slipways and jetties, campsheds and the relocation of existing moorings provision of air management plant and equipment including ventilation columns, electrical and control kiosks provision of drainage, hard and soft landscaping. The project is an Environmental Impact Assessment development. The proposed application will include an environmental statement.
