Ellis Family Update

God loves Taiwan!

ThelongerweliveinTaiwan,the moreweunderstandGodsgreat loveforthisnation.Aftera summeroftraveland conferences,weareallgetting backintotheministryandschool. AsSeandivesbackintoteaching andChinesestudies,Katieis gettingtoknowallthenew childreninherclass.Thekidsare adjustingtohavinghomework again,andbeingonegrade higher.Whileitwashardtosay goodbyetofamilyandfriendsin theU.S.again,Taiwanhas becomeourhomenowandwe haveseenhowGodhasgivenusa richplaceofcultureandpromise. Katiesnewclasshasgoodmixof missionarychildrenand Taiwanesechildren.Oneofher studentsparentsaremissions leadersforthenationofChina. Hisfatherandmotherhelpnew missionariestosettleintotheir provinces,anddobothpastoral andmentoringrolesfortheir workers.AfterlivinginChinafor manyyears,theyrelocatedto Taiwanasamoresecureplaceto launchintoChina.Itisablessing toservefamiliesliketheirs. Seanhasjumpedbackintofull timeChinesestudies.Thissecond year,hehopestobecomemore fluentandwillfocusonChristian vocabularyandconversation. ThenightmarketBiblestudy beginssoon,andheisalready workingwithourlocalchurch heredoingbothpreachingand visionplanning. Sophiaisnowahighschool sophomore,Maxisinhislastyear ofmiddleschool,Joeisinhislast yearofelementaryschool,and Kaiisabigsecondgrader.

Somethingveryspecialhappened thisyear.MaxandJosephwere baptizedandSeanwasableto conducttheservice.Wearesoproud ofourboyscommitments!

Wehadtheprivilegeofattending ourfirstTaiwanMissionary Fellowshipconferencethissummer. Therewereseveralmissions organizationsrepresentedsuchas TeamExpansion,OMF,IMB,Send, andYouthWithAMission.During themainsessions,Dr.Tonyand FelicityDalechallengeduswith strategiesforbuildingeffective housechurchesinTaiwan.House churcheshaveenjoyedsuchsuccess inChina,andnowareeven experiencinggrowthintheUnited States.Tonysparentsweresomeof thefirstmissionariessenttothenew nationofTaiwan,andwere instrumentalinsettingupmedical clinicsandschools.Wewalkedaway fromthistimerealizingthatwehad noideahowmanyorganizationsand amazingpeoplethatGodisusing hereinTaiwan.Wefeelso encouragedknowingwestandwith somanyqualitypeople,and appreciatethenewrelationshipsand networkingthathappened.

InadditiontostudyingChinesethislastyear,Godopenedmanydoors forSeantocontinuetoteachtheBible.HeledaweeklyBiblestudyin thebusiestnightmarketareainTaichungcalledFengJia.Manyofthe studentscametolearnEnglish,butleftwiththeGospel.Severalbecame believers,andothersstartedgoingtochurchagain. SeanalsocontinuedtosupportYWAMBibleschoolsthislastyear,with teachingtripstotheUnitedStates,Australia,andtwotripsto Cambodia.Thoughhecuthisschedulebackconsiderablyduetohis Chinesestudies,hewasabletoteachthebooksofRevelation,Matthew, Isaiah,andEzekiel.ManyoftheBibleschoolstaffinalltheselocations werestudentswhoSeanhadworkedwithduringourtimeofbeing basedintheUnitedStates.Itisablessingtoseehowtheyhavegrown andnowsacrificedtobuildtheseBibleschoolsinareasofgreatneed.

FUNDRAISINGPROJECT

House of Blessing

NewMotorscooter:ourbeloved oldscooterisonitslastlegs.It wasgiventouswhenwefirst movedhere,butnowisnotsafe forourfamilytorideon.Weneed $1,800foranewone,or$1,000 foraqualityusedmoto.

Oneoftheexciting developmentsinourministry hereinTaiwanisourhome churchcalledHouseof Blessing.Itisabilingualchurch reachingouttoboththelocal Taiwaneseandtheforeigners whoeitherworkatthe missionaryschoolorarehere workinginbusiness.Seanwas askedtojointheleadership team,andisnowproviding leadershiptothepreachingatthe church.Hewillbepreachingtwo tothreetimesamonthand meetingwithateamthatpray overthevisionandpractical needsofthefellowship.Overthe lasttwoyears,47peoplebecame Christiansthroughtheministryof thechurch.
