Robinson Crusoe is a book written by Daniel Defoe. It is a book about the human condition wherein the main character overcomes a series of misfortunes. The main character of the story is Robinson Crusoe who is born in 1632 from a good family in York. He loves the sea although his father doesnt agree with his plans of going on sea voyages. On one of his voyages, Robinson is taken hostage and made a slave, but he manages to escape with the help of a Portuguese captain who takes him to Brazil. Robinson Crusoe embarks on another sea voyage, but this time he is shipwrecked on a deserted island. Robinson saves one prisoner who is about to be eaten by the cannibals, and he calls him Friday. Friday and Robinson become friends; Robinson teaches him English so that they can communicate. Robinson and Friday are happy on the island, but one day a ship comes to the island. Robinson helps the captain recover his ship, and after twenty-eight years spent on the deserted island, Robinson manages to return to England. Here he forms a family and has two children, but he wants to return to the island. So he does; he returns to the island with Friday and is amazed to see that the island is no longer deserted, but there are many people on the island. After some time spent on the island, Robinson goes to Brazil where he continues his life as a normal person. This is the story of Robinson Crusoe whose life experience is unbelievable!

"Alba County is linked
to the golden dream of all Romanians"
Alba Iulia is a Romanian city with great historical resonance. Its historical importance is mainly due to its geographical position as it is a natural crossing point which links the surrounding areas of precious metal resources, salt and vineyards. Major arteries of Transylvania with important economic centres meet here. This has boosted its economic and demographic development. Major events in the history of Romania took place in Alba Iulia. For instance, on November 29, 1599, Michael the Brave entered Alba Iulia following his victory in the Battle of elimbr and became ruler of Transylvania. Since then, Alba has been considered the spiritual capital of Romania. The city of Alba Iulia is located in the center of Romania in an area of hills. It is the capital of Alba County, located on the left bank of the River Mure, and it has a population of 73,000 inhabitants. Alba County is linked to the golden dream of all Romanians: the unification of Transylvania with Romania and the founding of the Romanian National State on December 1, 1918. Alba County is an area of great interest both for Romanian nationals and foreigners. The tourism potential of the county consists of numerous vestiges of the past through its historical monuments, architecture, art and various landscapes with unique natural reserves.

BSI Method By Alina Oran, English Teacher

Is learning still "a must" once you have become a teacher? In the field of education, an educator has the obligation to be up-to-date on everything in his domain of teaching. Therefore, the answer to the above question is more than obvious. To help realise this goal, Lifelong Learning Programme developed its Comenius component. With this programme, I had the opportunity to attend a Comenius course in Bodrum, Turkey from August 14-21. The course, BSI (Broad Sweeps of Imagination) Method: a new method to teach a foreign language, focused on presenting a new way of teaching. This method originated from a Turkish teacher who, throughout her career, sought an efficient way to help students speak fluent English. Thus, she focused her attention, not on speaking grammatically correct, but on communicating ideas and thoughts; transmitting understandable messages in a foreign language. The BSI method is a mixture of previouslyestablished methods based on a relaxing and teachinglearning atmosphere. The main characteristics of this method are:

Developing students communicative competence Encouraging students active participation in class by taking into consideration the students interests Arising awareness on cultural differences Creating real, everyday life situations Developing and supporting creativity and originality Stimulating cooperation among students Making use of the five senses and their mental expression through neurological processes in order to internalise the target language The BSI on seven method compostudents 7. 5.

This method, implemented in Romania, is not an astonishing novelty in the TEFL field because every teacher has used at least one of the above components in class; however, what is indeed astonishing is the way this method blends multiple teaching approaches to create a learning environment which is attractive, appropriate and efficient.

Easter Fasting By Mirela Petru, Religion Teacher

Fasting is a practise which was given to Adam by God when he was still in Heaven. It is the first commandment to behold in order to get closer to God. It was necessary then, and it is still necessary today after man has eaten from the tree of knowledge. This practise was given in Heaven and was rekindled in the Holy Scriptures. Fasting is good for the body and for the soul because it strengthens the body and cleanses our souls. It maintains our health and gives wings to our souls. Jesus Christ himself fasted forty days and forty nights in the desert before he started to preachthis fasting being the basis of Easter fasting that Christians respect today. Jesus taught us how to fast and told his apostles that the devil can only be banished through fasting and prayer. Beyond refraining

from eating certain food, it is very important that we wish for clear minds, changed attitudes, right behaviour and right speech. Through positive change, we can start walking path! on the Heavenly

All of the activities drama guide, theatre play and traditional season festivalsfollow the project goal: "Moving from the shadows of human existence and the shadows of our inabilities which make us crumpled and shy, moving from the shadows of neglected tradition, and the shadows of backstage we want to come onto the stage, act, stay in the spotlight, make the world around us bright and sunny. To make it true we need to teach and learn understanding, tolerance, cooperation and independence." In 2011, from October 17 -21, we hosted the first project meeting, and along with our partners, established the project base. During the five-day meeting a series of events and activities were organized: workshops, presentations of the educational systems, official visits to Sncel Town Hall, Alba Council, Prichindelul Theatre in Alba Iulia and Alba County Department of Education. Our foreign partners were delighted by the warm welcome they received in Alba County and by the dedication and team spirit of the teachers. The second meeting took place in the UK during March 5-9; teachers Lenua Bloj and Alina Oran and 7th graders Iulia chiau and Casiana Zubacu attended this reunion. The meeting revolved around the projects activities, discussions with local authorities and intercultural exchange among Romanian, British, Turkish and Slovakian students. We visited Shakespeares birthplace and established clear tasks for the following meeting. The third project reunion was held May 20-26 in Nitra, Slovakia. Primary teacher Lenua Bloj, Director Carmen Gabri, English teacher Alina Oran, Romanian teacher Ioana Ctu and 6th graders Ioana Barna, Raluca Fril, Marius Man and Adrian Slcudean represented our school. The meeting was comprised of school activities, workshops, visits to partner institutions and socializing activities for students.
