"Nutcracker Sweets" Updates

December 14th--Mandatory Dress Rehearsal @ 3:30 p.m. and Performance #1 @ 6:30 p.m. December 15th--Performance #2 @ 11:00 a.m. Mark your calendars now. All performers are expected to be at dress rehearsal and both performances held at the Trinity-Green Trails "Grounds for Hope" Auditorium, 2701 Maple in Lisle. To be eligible to perform, all students: 1. Must have paid both Fall and Winter Term tuition. 2. Must know their performance piece. Our selections for Nutcracker are shorter in length than recital pieces by design, so that students can master them and feel confident in their first performance of the academic year. Even so, regular class attendance is critical--excessive tardiness or absences interfere with the learning process, and jeopardize the positive performance experience that we seek to create. And, as with academics, sports, or other disciplines, practice at home in addition to class attendance is essential for success in dance performance. Show DVD's: We have an opportunity to have even better professional, 2-camera coverage (with close-ups of your dancer on stage) for this year's performance at the same low price of $25. HOWEVER, a minimum quantity of DVDs must be ordered before the show. We will be sending DVD reservation coupons home with your child--please return them as soon as possible. Tickets: Tickets for both performances will go on sale Monday, November 5th. All seats are general admission-$8/adult and $5/child--in advance, cash or check only. Other private dance studios in the area charge as much as $15-$25 per ticket and also charge ticket fees for the performers. We dont do this because we want to make it affordable to share dance with the Lisle community and beyond. So please support our efforts by inviting friends, neighbors and other aspiring dancers to our show!

Winter (Term) is Coming!

All Contempo classes run for the full academic year (through June) but the year is split into 3 terms for your payment convenience. As classes build upon each other, students generally remain in the same class throughout the year, rather than switching classes from term to term, so they have the opportunity to develop confidence and practice the skills that will help them make progress and stay injury-free for as long as they dance. However, we are excited to be adding a few new classes to the schedule during Winter Term, and current students are welcome to add these to their current schedule for even more opportunities to learn: 1. Adult Ballet (Beginning/Intermediate)--Thursdays 7:30-8:30 p.m. 2. Creative Dance I/II (ages 3-5)--Wednesdays 4:15-5:00 p.m. 3. BeMoved(R) for AdultsMondays 8:00-8:45 p.m. 4. Jazz/Hip-Hop I (ages 6-10)--Saturdays 1:15-2:15 p.m. Thank you for your continuing referrals to our studio! Please pick up a referral form if you refer students for Winter Term so that you and your friends can both receive a tuition credit with our sincere appreciation.

Party in Pink Zumbathon: 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11th at Contempo

Come join the Zumba revolution and support breast cancer charities in the process! In support of Breast Cancer Awareness, we have donated our studio for this event. Your $10 donation is your ticket to a fun Zumba class that also benefits others. Local Zumba instructor Alyssa Velarde will be leading the party--see you there!

Halloween Treat
Students in Creative Dance I, Creative Dance II, Ballet I and Jazz/Hip-Hop I are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to class during the week of October 22-27, as long as the costume does not restrict vision or movement. And YES, we do have regular classes scheduled on Halloween, so please plan your trick-or-treating accordingly so you dont miss class. Important Reminder: We are not closed for regular school holidays during our terms, with the exception of Labor Day and Memorial Day. Thanksgiving week falls between terms and so no classes are scheduled except for Monday classes, making up for the Labor Day holiday. The only break period that coincides with school schedules is during Winter Term, from December 23-January 6. Our schedule is posted on our website and in our brochure, for easy reference. Thank you for your help in reinforcing the importance of effort in learning and achieving success in dance! Students who are

supported in their efforts when challenged to try something new are more confident and successful in dance, in academics, and in life. At Contempo, students dont say I cantthey are reminded to say Ill try. We support effort!!!
